Common questions. Plain answers.

Everything Brisbane households ask Jake most often — about electrical work, aircon installs, aircon cleaning, and how the booking and quoting process works.

About Tier One

Do you cover Brisbane?

Yes — Brisbane is the home base, with most jobs in the inner suburbs. The work radius extends out to Caboolture (north), Cleveland (bayside), Pimpama (southern corridor), and Ipswich (west). If you're inside that area, Jake can travel to you.

What hours do you operate?

Tier One operates Monday to Friday, 7am to 5pm. Weekends are family time and are closed to bookings, but for genuine emergencies during the week we'll always try to fit you in.

Are you licensed and insured?

Yes — Electrical Licence #91824 covers all electrical work. Arctick Refrigeration Licence #L152701 covers split-system aircon installs and regassing. Public liability insurance is in place for residential work.

Who actually does the work?

Jake — owner and lead electrician. On larger installs Jen often comes along to keep the job running smoothly. The business is deliberately small so the same hands are on every job.

How quickly can you book me in?

It depends on the week. Smaller jobs in the area can usually slot in within a few days. Genuine emergencies (no power, smoking outlet) get prioritised same or next day where possible.

How do quotes work?

We come out and quote on-site so the number is real, not a guess. There's no charge for the visit. The written quote details inclusions, exclusions, and a start date — no hidden extras when the work runs.

Residential Electrical

Can you install ceiling fans?

Yes — ceiling fan installs (and repositions) are a regular part of the work. We supply and install, or just install if you've already bought the fan.

Can you upgrade my safety switches?

Yes — safety switch (RCD) upgrades are common, particularly in older Brisbane homes. We'll inspect what's in the switchboard and recommend the right setup. The job usually takes a few hours.

Do you do smoke alarms?

Yes — installations and replacements. We can also walk you through what current QLD legislation requires for your home (interconnected photoelectric alarms in every bedroom and hallway).

My power keeps tripping — can you find the fault?

Yes — fault finding and tripping circuits are bread-and-butter work. We start at the switchboard and work through the circuits methodically until we find the cause.

Can you do a full house rewire?

Yes — full and partial rewires are part of the renovation work. These are bigger jobs that need proper scoping; we'll come out, walk through what you need, and write a detailed quote with stages and timing.

Air Conditioning

Do you supply the unit, or do I bring my own?

Both works. Most clients ask us to source the unit so they get our trade pricing and we recommend the right size/brand for the room.

How long does an aircon install take?

A standard single-head split system in a straightforward house is one full day. Multi-head systems take two to three days, depending on layout and cable run.

Can you replace an old unit with a new one?

Yes — straight replacements are common. We disconnect and remove the old unit, dispose of it correctly, mount the new unit, run new pipework if needed, and commission it.

How often should I get my aircon cleaned?

Most manufacturers recommend annual servicing. High-use households (kids, pets, year-round running) may benefit from every 9 months. Light use can stretch to every 18 months.

Why does it matter for the warranty?

Most aircon manufacturers require regular servicing as a condition of the warranty. If a unit fails inside warranty and there's no service record, the claim can be denied. We provide a service receipt every visit.

Can you do regassing?

Yes — Arctick licensed (#L152701). We regas existing systems where the unit is in good order and the leak's been identified and fixed.

Booking & quotes

How do I get a quote?

The fastest way is to phone Jake on 0409 809 577 during business hours. For non-urgent jobs, the contact form is the easiest — fill in the basics and we'll be back to you the same business day.

Do you charge for quotes?

No — on-site quotes are free for jobs in the service area.

Will I get the same person who quoted on the day of the job?

Yes — Jake quotes the job and Jake (and sometimes Jen) does the work. There's no handover to a different crew.

Will you tidy up afterwards?

Yes — drop sheets down before we start, area swept and vacuumed when we leave. Old units and packaging get taken away.
