Frequently asked questions
What is a pre-COF underbody clean and why do I need it?
Before a truck goes for its Certificate of Fitness inspection, the underbody needs to be clean enough for the inspector to actually see and check the chassis, brakes, suspension, fuel and air lines. A pre-COF underbody steam clean removes mud, oil, brake dust and road grime so the inspection can run smoothly without faults raised purely for visibility reasons.
Can you remove tar and bitumen from my truck?
Yes — this is one of the things we're best known for. Hot tar and bitumen are messy, sticky, and time-consuming to remove by hand. We use specialist solvents and a proven process to lift it off cleanly without damaging the paint underneath. It's much faster and cheaper than asking your team to do it.
How do you handle the wastewater from a steam clean?
Our bay is set up with proper wastewater management — captured, contained, and disposed of through compliant channels. Nothing enters the stormwater system. If your fleet manager or auditor needs documentation, just ask and we'll send it through.
Do I need to book a steam clean in advance?
Yes, please. Steam-clean jobs and de-tar work take time and need the right operator on shift, so it's best to ring ahead a day or two so we can slot you into the schedule. Walk-ins are sometimes possible but a booking guarantees you a slot.
How long does an underbody steam clean take?
A pre-COF underbody steam clean on a standard truck and trailer usually takes around 90 minutes to two hours, depending on how built-up the underbody is. We'll give you a realistic time estimate when you book — and we work as fast as we can without cutting corners on the finish.
Are your prices competitive?
We're confident we have the best rates in Manukau for steam cleaning, pre-COF and de-tar. Call or email us with the size of your truck and trailer and we'll give you a firm quote — no surprises when you arrive.
