0800 WE WASH (0800 939 274) — 24 hours a day, 7 days a week.

What we handle

  • Hydraulic oil and engine oil spills
  • Fuel spills (diesel, petrol)
  • Paint and chemical hazards
  • Coolant and other automotive fluids
  • Non-hazardous fluid spills on roads, yards and depots

How a callout works

  1. Call 0800 WE WASH and tell us what's spilled, where, and how big the area is
  2. Our Rapid Response Team is dispatched with absorbents, containment and clean-up gear
  3. We contain the spill first to stop it spreading to drains or waterways
  4. We clean the affected area, dispose of contaminated material correctly, and document the job
  5. You get a clear invoice and a record of the response for your environmental compliance file

Why fast response matters

At Powerwash, we know how critical it is to reduce environmental impact and protect your team's safety. A spill that reaches a stormwater drain can become an Auckland Council enforcement issue within hours. That's why our response is structured around getting on site fast, containing the hazard, and then doing the cleanup properly — not the other way around.

Frequently asked questions

How fast can you actually respond to a spill?

Our Rapid Response Team is dispatched as soon as the call comes in — typical response time across the greater Auckland region is well under an hour, often inside 30 minutes for urgent jobs. For Hamilton and Waikato spills, allow a bit longer for travel; we'll give you a realistic ETA the moment you ring through.

Are you available outside business hours?

Yes — 24 hours a day, 7 days a week, including weekends and public holidays. Spills don't keep office hours, so neither do we. Call 0800 WE WASH any time and you'll get through to someone who can dispatch the team straight away.

Can you handle hazardous chemical spills?

Yes. Our team is trained and equipped for both hazardous and non-hazardous spills, including hydraulic oil, diesel, petrol, paint and other automotive chemicals. When you ring, tell us what's spilled and we'll bring the right containment and absorbents for that specific substance.

Do you provide documentation for our compliance records?

Yes. We document every callout — what was spilled, the area affected, how it was contained, what materials were used, and how the waste was disposed of. You get a written record you can drop straight into your environmental compliance file or hand to council or insurance if it comes up.

What happens to the contaminated material?

Captured spill material is transported off site by Powerwash and disposed of through licensed hazardous-waste channels — never into stormwater, never into a regular landfill bin. We can show you exactly where it ends up if your auditor asks.

Will the spill response damage the surface?

No. We use the right absorbents and cleaning methods for the surface — asphalt, concrete, gravel, indoor flooring — so the underlying material is cleaned, not eaten away. Where there's already staining we'll be honest about whether it can be fully removed or only minimised.

How much does an emergency spill callout cost?

Cost varies with the size of the spill, the substance involved, the time of day, and how much disposal is required. We don't quote spill responses in advance because every job is different, but we'll explain how we charge before we start work and give you a written quote afterward.
