Frequently asked

Everything you wanted to ask.

Common questions about training, memberships, the studio and how we work. Can't find what you're after? Just ask.

General

Where is Phoenix Physique located?

We're at 20 Lyons Terrace, Windsor QLD 4030 — less than 3km from Brisbane's CBD. Easy access from Newmarket, Wilston, Wooloowin, Lutwyche, Kelvin Grove, Herston and the inner-north suburbs. On-site and street parking available.

How long has the studio been open?

Phoenix Physique was founded by Jay Robson and opened its doors in 2007 — nearly two decades of strength training in Brisbane. Our trainers each bring close to two decades of experience to the floor, and many of our members have been with us for over ten years.

Do you offer a free trial?

Yes — your first week of gym membership is free, so you can come in, use the equipment, get a feel for the studio and meet the team before committing. For personal training, your first session is on us — we'll walk through the studio, talk about your goals and start building a program.

What payment methods do you accept?

We accept the standard payment methods you'd expect from a small studio — direct debit for ongoing memberships, and card payments for one-off sessions and casual fees. We'll walk you through the options when you sign up so you can pick what suits.

Are you licensed and insured?

Yes — Phoenix Physique operates with the appropriate business insurances for a personal training studio and gym in Queensland. Our trainers hold current industry qualifications and ongoing professional development. We're happy to discuss specifics with members at signup.

Personal Training

How does personal training work?

One-on-one coaching with a qualified trainer, by appointment, with the same coach week-to-week. 30, 45 or 60 minute sessions depending on your goals. Your trainer builds a program tailored to you and tracks progress session-to-session. See our personal training page for full detail.

How much does personal training cost?

Sessions start from $60.50 (30 min), $82.50 (45 min) and $102.50 (60 min). Most members find 45 minutes is the right balance of cost and outcome. Extra persons in a session incur an additional fee. Get in touch and we'll talk you through what makes sense for your goals.

Do I need to be fit to start training?

Not at all. We coach everyone from complete beginners to time-poor CEOs. Your trainer meets you where you are — scaling every movement and load to your current ability — and builds you up from there. That's the whole point of having a personal trainer.

Can you help with injury rehab or special conditions?

Yes — with a physio (Matt Jenner) and a rehab-trained personal trainer (Loretta Leigh) on the team, we're well-placed to coach clients recovering from injury or surgery, training with chronic conditions, or working pre- and post-natal. We're also experienced with peri-menopause programming and training clients well into their seventies.

Gym Membership

How much is gym membership?

Memberships start from $13.95 per week with a 12-week minimum commitment. We offer different tiers depending on training frequency and payment preference. Your first week is free, and we can walk you through the right tier for your situation.

When can I train?

The gym is open 4:00am to 10:00pm, seven days a week including public holidays. That's 18 hours a day, every day — plenty of room for before-work, lunchtime, after-work and evening training.

Is there a minimum contract?

12 weeks. We do this on purpose: real strength results — both physical and habit-based — take at least 12 weeks to show up. After that, membership is flexible.

What equipment do you have?

Squat racks, half-racks, the full dumbbell range, adjustable benches, cable machines, leg press and core strength machines. Plus cardio — treadmills, rowers, bikes and conditioning gear. Built around functional strength training.

Group Training

How big are the groups?

Three to four people per session. We keep groups small so the coach can still program for everyone individually and coach form properly. Anything larger stops being personal training.

How much does group training cost?

Pricing varies based on group size and session length — the cost is split across the group so per-person it's lower than one-on-one PT. Tell us about your group and we'll quote it.

Can we book a corporate team?

Yes — small corporate teams are a great fit for our group training model. Get in touch and we'll discuss what works for your team's goals and schedule.

Visiting & Hours

What are your opening hours?

Monday to Sunday, 4:00am to 10:00pm. Consultations are by appointment only. Group training and personal training are also by appointment — get in touch to set up a time.

Do you have parking?

Yes — on-site parking and plenty of street parking on Lyons Terrace. Easy to get to from Brisbane CBD (less than 3km), Newmarket, Wilston, Wooloowin and the surrounding inner-north suburbs.

How do I book a tour or first session?

Use our contact form or call Jay directly on 0416 805 228. We'll set up a time that works to walk you through the studio and chat about your goals — no obligation.
