Kitchen Tiling Specialists

The kitchen is the heart of the home, and tiling in this area needs to be as functional as it is beautiful. Avid Tiling installs kitchen splashbacks, floor tiles, and feature walls that hold up to daily use and look incredible for years to come.

From simple subway tile splashbacks to full-height porcelain feature walls, we work with whatever aesthetic you're after. Adam takes the time to plan grout lines and tile placement before any adhesive goes down — the difference is immediately visible in the finished result.

We also handle floor tiling for open-plan kitchen and dining areas, including large-format tiles (up to 1200×600mm) laid with precision levelling systems for a perfectly flat finish.

Frequently Asked Questions

Kitchen Tiling — Common Questions

How long does a kitchen splashback take to tile?

A standard kitchen splashback (1.5–3 lineal metres) typically takes 1–2 days including adhesive cure time. The kitchen can usually be used again by the following morning.

Can you tile directly over a painted splashback?

It depends on the substrate beneath. We'll assess the existing surface and advise whether a direct tile-over is viable or whether the old surface needs to come off first.

What tiles work best for a kitchen splashback?

Ceramic and porcelain tiles are the most practical for splashbacks due to their non-porous surface. Glass mosaic and natural stone can also work well with the right sealing and adhesive.

Do you lay large-format floor tiles in kitchens?

Yes. We regularly install 600×600mm and 1200×600mm floor tiles in kitchen areas. We use levelling clips and a precision adhesive bed for a perfectly flat result.

Are there tiles that hide kitchen mess better?

Mid-toned tiles with a subtle texture tend to show less grease and fingerprints than glossy white tiles. We can discuss practical options alongside aesthetics when you get your quote.

How do I match new floor tiles to my existing benchtop?

Bring a sample of your benchtop material (or photos) when we meet for the quote. We can hold tile samples against it on site to help you find the best match.
