Avid Tiling FAQ

Frequently
Asked Questions

Common questions about tiling, waterproofing, pricing, and working with Avid Tiling in Brisbane. Can't find your answer? Call 0458 779 881.

Are you QBCC licensed for tiling and waterproofing?

Yes. Avid Tiling holds a current QBCC licence (#15094350) covering both tiling and waterproofing under Queensland law. This means all wet area waterproofing meets AS 3740 and you're protected under Queensland's statutory home warranty scheme.

How do I get a quote?

Call Adam on 0458 779 881 or fill out the online enquiry form. Adam will arrange a brief site visit (for larger jobs) or provide a quote based on your photos and measurements. Written quotes are provided before any work starts.

Do you provide a written quote upfront?

Yes, always. We provide a detailed written quote before starting any work, including tile layout plan, material specifications, and labour. No verbal agreements that change at invoice time.

How long does a bathroom retile take?

A standard bathroom (10–15m²) typically takes 3–5 days including waterproofing, tiling, and grouting. Larger bathrooms or more complex layouts may take 5–7 days.

Do I need to supply tiles or do you?

Either works. Many clients source their own tiles for maximum choice. We can also supply tiles through our trade accounts at competitive pricing. Just discuss with Adam at the quote stage.

Can you tile over existing tiles?

Sometimes yes. It depends on the condition and bonding of the existing tiles, and whether the wall or floor can structurally handle the additional weight. Adam assesses each situation on site.

What's the difference between ceramic and porcelain tiles?

Porcelain is denser, harder, less porous, and more durable than ceramic — ideal for high-traffic areas, wet rooms, and outdoors. Ceramic is a practical, cost-effective choice for lower-traffic indoor areas.

Do you do commercial tiling?

Yes. Avid Tiling completes commercial tile installations for offices, cafés, retail fit-outs, medical centres, and body corporate common areas across Brisbane and the Gold Coast. We work within commercial timelines and provide written method statements.

Is waterproofing required in all bathrooms?

In Queensland, QBCC requires waterproofing of all wet areas (shower recesses, baths, laundries) to AS 3740. Avid Tiling is QBCC licensed for waterproofing and always handles this as part of a complete bathroom tile job.

What tiles work best outdoors in Queensland?

Porcelain tiles with a minimum R10 slip rating for covered areas, or R11 for pool surrounds and wet zones. We only source outdoor tiles rated for the specific application — Queensland's heat and UV exposure require materials selected accordingly.

Do you work on the Gold Coast?

Yes. We travel to the Gold Coast for commercial projects and larger residential jobs. Travel fees apply and are always included in your written quote upfront.

How much does tiling cost in Brisbane?

Tiling rates vary based on tile size, pattern complexity, substrate condition, and the area to be tiled. We provide detailed written quotes — call 0458 779 881 or enquire online for a specific price on your project.
