Floor Tiling Specialists

A well-laid floor tile can transform a room. Avid Tiling installs floor tiles across Brisbane's residential and commercial properties — from compact laundries to expansive open-plan living areas and commercial fit-outs.

We work with all tile sizes and materials: ceramic for cost-effective everyday areas, porcelain for high-traffic zones, and natural stone for premium finishes. Large-format tiles (600×600mm to 1200×600mm) are a specialty — they require a perfectly flat substrate, precise adhesive bed, and levelling systems to avoid lippage.

Every floor tiling project starts with a substrate assessment. If the floor is uneven, bouncy, or has old adhesive build-up, we address it before laying a single tile. It's this prep work that separates a tile job that looks great at handover from one that still looks great in ten years.

Frequently Asked Questions

Floor Tiling — Common Questions

What's the difference between ceramic and porcelain floor tiles?

Porcelain is denser, harder, and less porous than ceramic, making it better for high-traffic areas, wet rooms, and outdoors. Ceramic is a cost-effective choice for lower-traffic indoor areas.

How do you prevent lippage on large-format tiles?

We use a combination of a precision adhesive bed (no blobs — full coverage), tile levelling clips, and wedges during installation. This ensures all tiles sit at the same height before the adhesive sets.

Can you tile over existing floor tiles?

Yes, in some cases. The existing tiles need to be firmly bonded, flat, and structurally sound. We'll assess on-site and advise on whether overlay or removal is the right approach.

How long before I can walk on newly tiled floors?

Most areas are safe to walk on lightly after 24 hours (once adhesive has cured). Grouting typically follows at 24–48 hours, with the floor fully usable 24 hours after grouting.

Do you tile wet areas like laundries and bathrooms?

Yes. Wet area floor tiles require QBCC-compliant waterproofing before tiling. Avid Tiling handles both the waterproofing and the tiling as part of a complete job.

What floor tile grout colour should I choose?

Matching grout to the tile colour minimises the visual grid and makes the floor look larger. Contrasting grout highlights the tile layout. We can show you samples at the quote stage.
