Alfresco & Deck Extension

The Brief

This classic Paddington Queenslander had a small back deck that wasn't doing justice to the home. The owners wanted to open the living areas out to a proper outdoor entertaining space — something that felt like an extension of the house rather than an afterthought.

What We Did

We extended the existing deck footprint significantly, matching the original hardwood species for a seamless visual connection. A new pergola structure with fixed louvres provides shade and rain protection without closing the space in. Low-level feature planting along the fence line grounds the space, and concealed LED strip lighting under the pergola beams creates great ambience in the evening.

The project required QBCC-licensed structural work for the pergola footings and deck extension — all permits were handled as part of scope.
