Bulimba, Brisbane
The owners of this Bulimba home had a backyard that looked tired and felt uninviting — overgrown in some spots, bare in others, with no coherent design. They wanted a lush, tropical feel that would make the space genuinely enjoyable and require minimal maintenance once established.
We cleared the existing garden completely and started fresh with a considered planting plan suited to Bulimba's warm, humid conditions. The design uses a layered approach: canopy species like Bangalow palms and Leopard trees at height, mid-storey Heliconias and Cordylines for colour, and ground-cover natives for coverage and weed suppression.
Hardwood timber edging defines the beds cleanly, and a drip irrigation system with a smart controller ensures the plants get what they need without overwatering. The project took 7 days from site clear to final mulch.
