Not a workout. Not meditation. Just breathing — and it changes everything.
What is Breathwork?
Transformational breathwork is a guided conscious breathing practice that uses specific rhythmic patterns to access and release stress, anxiety and emotional weight held deep in the body.
Unlike meditation — where you observe your thoughts — breathwork is an active practice. You are deliberately directing your breath to shift your physiological and emotional state. The result is often profound and immediate: a release of built-up tension that some women describe as months of therapy condensed into a single session.
What Happens in a Session
Sally opens the space with a grounded welcome. You'll set a personal intention for the session — there's no right or wrong answer — and Sally will walk you through exactly what to expect from the breath pattern.
Lying comfortably on a mat (or at home in your own space), you begin the conscious connected breathing pattern guided by Sally and supported by music. Sessions typically run 45–60 minutes. Whatever arises — emotions, sensations, release — Sally is present with you throughout.
After the active breathing, Sally guides you through a gentle integration period — time to rest, process and let your nervous system settle. The session closes with optional sharing and grounding before you re-enter your day.

No. Breathwork is an active practice — you are consciously directing your breath throughout the session, which creates a very different physiological effect to meditation. Many people who struggle to meditate find breathwork more accessible because there is something specific to do with your body and attention.
Experiences vary widely between individuals. Common sensations include tingling in the hands or face, waves of emotion, deep relaxation, or a profound sense of release. Some people feel deeply energised afterwards, others feel quiet and still. Sally creates a safe container for whatever arises and guides you through the entire experience.
No prior experience is needed. Sally guides every session from start to finish, explaining the technique before you begin and supporting you throughout. Breathwork sessions at Fit With Sally are specifically designed to be accessible for first-timers, with the depth available for those who have practiced before.
Yes. Breathwork sessions are available online via video call, which means women anywhere in Australia can participate. You'll need a quiet space, a yoga mat or comfortable surface to lie on, and a stable internet connection. Many participants prefer the privacy of breathing from home.
There are certain health conditions where breathwork requires additional care or is not recommended — including cardiovascular conditions, epilepsy, severe anxiety disorders, pregnancy (in some formats) and recent surgery. Sally discusses any relevant health history before your first session to make sure breathwork is appropriate for you.
A standard breathwork session is typically 60–90 minutes and focuses on a single guided breathing journey. Retreats offer a more immersive experience over a half or full day, often combining breathwork with movement, journaling and community sharing. Both are available through Fit With Sally.
Many participants find monthly sessions deeply supportive, while others attend weekly as part of an ongoing wellness practice. There is no fixed schedule — Sally can help you figure out what frequency would be most beneficial based on what you're working through and how you respond to the practice.
