Tile Sealing

Protect your clean tiles and keep them looking better for longer

Professionally sealed tile and grout in Brisbane
Protective sealing

Clean tiles deserve protection.

A professional clean removes years of embedded grime from grout lines — but unsealed grout will reabsorb staining within months. Sealing locks in the clean result and creates an invisible barrier that makes future maintenance much easier.

Dave applies penetrating-grade sealers that absorb into the grout rather than sitting on the surface, providing durable protection without changing the natural look or feel of your tiles. The ideal time to seal is immediately after a professional clean, when the grout is fully open.

Sealing can be booked as a standalone service for grout that's still in good condition, or combined with a deep clean and grout repair in a single visit.

/ Benefits

Why sealing makes sense

A relatively small investment that significantly extends the life of your professional clean.

🛡️
Stain Resistance

Sealed grout resists oil, wine, coffee and everyday household spills — liquid beads on the surface instead of absorbing.

🦠
Mould Resistance

Sealed grout in wet areas is significantly less hospitable to mould and mildew growth, reducing how often deep cleaning is needed.

🧹
Easier to Maintain

Regular mopping and wiping stays on top of sealed grout far better — everyday cleaning remains effective for longer.

Extends Clean Life

A sealed clean surface holds for 2–3× longer than unsealed grout, meaning longer intervals between professional services.

🎨
Natural Appearance

Penetrating sealers are invisible once applied — no sheen, no colour change. Your tiles look exactly as they should.

💰
Cost-Effective

Sealing is a fraction of the cost of a full regrout or tile replacement — protecting your investment in your existing tiles.

/ Questions

Common questions about tile sealing

Why should I seal my tiles and grout?
Grout is a porous material that absorbs staining, bacteria and moisture very readily. Sealing creates an invisible barrier that dramatically slows this absorption, keeping your tiles cleaner for longer and making routine maintenance far easier. After a professional clean, unsealed grout can return to its previous condition within a few months.
How long does tile sealing last?
The longevity of a sealer depends on the product quality, traffic levels and cleaning habits. A quality penetrating sealer applied to clean grout typically lasts 2 to 5 years in residential applications. High-traffic areas may need resealing sooner.
Does sealing change the appearance of my tiles?
Most quality sealers used by Tile Clean are penetrating sealers — they soak into the grout rather than sitting on the surface, so the appearance remains natural and unchanged. If a colour-enhancing or impregnating sealer is used, Dave will discuss the visual effect with you beforehand.
How do I know if my grout needs resealing?
A simple water test works well. Drop a small amount of water on the grout — if it beads up on the surface, the sealer is still working. If it soaks in quickly, the sealer has worn off and it's time to reseal.
Can I seal tiles immediately after cleaning?
Yes — applying sealer right after a professional clean is ideal. The grout is thoroughly clean and open, which allows the sealer to penetrate deeply for the best possible protection. Dave can often complete both services in a single visit.
Is sealing suitable for all tile types?
Sealing is primarily applied to grout lines, which are porous regardless of tile type. Natural stone tiles (marble, travertine, slate) also benefit greatly from sealing on the tile face itself. Porcelain and glazed ceramic tiles don't absorb sealers on the tile surface — but their grout lines still do.
How do I care for sealed tiles?
Regular mopping with a pH-neutral cleaner is ideal. Avoid harsh acidic cleaners, bleach or ammonia-based products, which can degrade the sealer over time. With good care, your sealed grout will stay looking clean significantly longer between professional services.
