Gardens we’ve transformed across Brisbane

Retaining walls, garden makeovers, turfing, erosion control and more — real projects from around Brisbane's north side.

Frankies Smokehouse, Woolloongabba
Frankies Smokehouse, Woolloongabba

One of our favourite projects to date — over 20 tonnes of base material, sleepers and sand were craned over a 4-metre-high retaining wall to produce this beautiful alfresco dining space for patrons to use.

This job required us to build 16 metres of retaining walls and a stone staircase, and paint the fence monument to match the home. Combined with 5 cubic metres of premium organic topsoil, the Lagerstroemia indica, Murraya paniculata and Agapanthus were set in ideal growing conditions to fill out the garden in years to come.

Retaining in Windsor

For the fire pit and back door to spill effectively onto the turf patio, we built a series of retainers to gradually step the garden. We then re-turfed the area with DNA-certified Sir Walter buffalo to grow where light may occasionally be limited.

We brought out the big toys for this post-renovation garden makeover. 12 metres of timber garden edging was installed, 2 tonnes of unsuitable soil were removed and replaced with quality under-turf soil, and 100 square metres of buffalo grass were laid. With care this lawn will flourish for years.

Micro-orchard clearing & erosion control, Windsor
Micro-orchard clearing & erosion control, Windsor

This backyard orchard sat on an extreme slope, making it difficult for the client to regularly maintain. We removed all unwanted flora, then laid hessian jute matting atop sugarcane mulch to organically control weeds and mitigate sediment erosion.

Side walkway garden makeover, Wilston

This gravel-mulched walkway was tired and full of weeds. We removed all of the existing gravel and improved the poor-quality clay soil with gypsum and organic topsoil, then planted the new garden with desert stars and silver falls dichondra.
