About Us

Five generations of compassionate funeral service. The story of Nelson Bros — Melbourne's oldest family-owned funeral directors.

Our Heritage

A Family Legacy Since 1858

In 1858, Melbourne was a young and growing city. It was in this year that Nelson Bros Funeral Services was established — and for every year since, the Nelson family has been trusted to care for the departed with dignity and compassion.

Over five generations, the family has built not just a business but a legacy of service, growing from a single location to six chapels across Melbourne's inner suburbs and western corridor. Through changing times and changing communities, the commitment to distinction has never wavered.

Our Director

Priscilla Nelson-Feaver

As a fifth-generation funeral director, Priscilla Nelson-Feaver carries forward a family legacy of compassionate care that began in 1858. Priscilla leads the Nelson Bros team with the same commitment to dignity and distinction that has defined the business for over 167 years, ensuring every family receives the personalised, attentive service they deserve during life's most difficult moments.

Under Priscilla's leadership, Nelson Bros has continued to evolve — embracing contemporary services such as webcasting and green funerals — while holding firm to the values of compassion, respect and professionalism that are the Nelson family's enduring hallmarks.

Beyond the Service

Bereavement Resource Centre

Nelson Bros opened its Bereavement Resource Centre in 1987 — recognising that grief does not end with the funeral. The Centre offers individual counselling, facilitated support groups, and a library of resources to help families and individuals navigate their grief journey.

Our qualified counsellors are here to walk with you through the weeks and months that follow your loss — because our care extends well beyond the final farewell.
