Everything we get asked most weeks. Bookings, referrals, what to expect at the first appointment, claims and rebates, and how the three services fit together. Still can't find what you need? Call the clinic — quickest answer.
No. Physiotherapy is a primary-contact profession in Australia, so you can book with Fitlosophy directly without a GP referral. The exception is when you want to claim through Medicare (via a Chronic Disease Management plan), Workcover or DVA — in those cases bring the referral or claim paperwork on the day. Private health funds with extras cover that includes physio can be claimed on the spot via HICAPS.
The initial consultation is 45 minutes. We start with a conversation about what's bothering you and what you want to be able to do. Then a physical assessment — range of motion, strength, joint-specific tests. You'll leave with a working diagnosis, a treatment plan with sensible checkpoints, and the first round of exercises to do before the next session. Bring comfortable clothing you can move in and any recent imaging or referral letters.
Same-week most of the time, often within 24–48 hours. Acute injuries are prioritised — call the clinic and we'll squeeze you in. For ongoing Pilates and Specialised Exercise bookings, we book recurring time slots so you can lock in the same time each week. Saturday morning slots fill up fastest; weekday off-peak is the easiest to get into.
Comfortable clothing you can move in — shorts or active wear so we can see the joints being assessed. Bring recent imaging (X-ray, MRI, ultrasound) if you have it, and any referral letter from a GP or surgeon. If you're claiming through Medicare, Workcover, DVA or a health fund, bring the relevant card or paperwork so reception can process the claim while you're with the therapist.
We ask for at least 24 hours' notice for cancellations so we can offer the spot to someone on the waitlist. Cancellations inside 24 hours, or no-shows, may incur a cancellation fee — reception will explain the specifics when you book. We do understand that genuine illness and emergencies happen; just let us know as early as you can and we'll work something out.
We charge per appointment rather than packaging multi-session plans, so you only pay for what you actually use. Initial consultation runs 45 minutes; follow-ups are 30 minutes, with extended 45-minute and multi-region 60-minute options. Medicare, Workcover and DVA referrals are bulk-billed during off-peak hours (10am – 2:30pm), with a gap payable at other times. Health-fund rebates can be claimed on the day via HICAPS.
Yes — all three. Medicare via Chronic Disease Management plans (formerly EPC) from your GP. Workcover claims with a current claim number. DVA card holders. These appointments are bulk-billed between 10am and 2:30pm Monday to Friday, with a gap payable before 10am or after 3pm. Bring the relevant paperwork or card to your first appointment so reception can set the claim up properly.
Yes. If you have extras cover that includes physiotherapy, we can process the claim on the spot via HICAPS for most major funds (Bupa, Medibank, HCF, NIB and many smaller funds). The rebate amount depends on your fund, your level of cover, and your remaining annual limit. We can give you the item code in advance so you can call your fund and check exactly what you'll get back before booking.
When Clinical Pilates is delivered by a physiotherapist as part of a physiotherapy treatment plan, it's generally claimable as physiotherapy under extras cover. Rebates vary by fund and your level of cover. Bring your fund card on the day and we'll claim on the spot via HICAPS. Gym-style or generic Pilates classes elsewhere are not typically claimable as physio.
Physiotherapy is the diagnosis-and-treatment pillar — hands-on work, exercises, and a clinical plan to get you out of pain or back to function. Clinical Pilates is physiotherapist-led Pilates built on top of that assessment — used for rehab, control work, and long-term resilience. Specialised Exercise is one-on-one gym programming with a physiotherapist alongside — performance, prevention, and the strength to keep the original problem from returning. Most people use one, two, or all three depending on where they are in the journey.
Yes — about half the people coming through Clinical Pilates have never set foot in a Pilates studio. The first session is an assessment, not a workout: we look at how you move, where you're tight, where you're loose, and what cues will work for you. From there we start simple and build complexity over the first few sessions. The format is one-on-one with a physiotherapist, so the pace is set by you, not a class playlist.
For people with injury history, recurring issues or specific rehabilitation needs — yes, often it works better. A standard PT will program for a goal (lose weight, gain muscle, run further), while a physio-led Specialised Exercise session does that while also accounting for the knee that doesn't track, the shoulder that's tight, the back that's flared before. For straightforward general fitness with no injury history, a good PT is great. Once you've got "form" though, the physio-led approach gives you a bigger safety net.
The clinic is at 20 Lyons Terrace, Windsor QLD 4030. Five minutes' walk from Windsor train station, and free on-street parking on Lyons Terrace and surrounding streets. Easy to reach from Wilston, Newmarket, Grange, Kelvin Grove, Lutwyche and the rest of Brisbane's inner north. Bus routes along Lutwyche Road and Newmarket Road both have stops within a short walk.
Monday to Friday 7am – 7pm, Saturday 7am – 2pm, closed Sunday. Reception is staffed during clinic hours. Early-morning (before 9am) and after-work (after 4pm) slots are popular and fill up first; off-peak slots between 10am and 2:30pm are the easiest to get into and are when Medicare, Workcover and DVA appointments are bulk-billed.
Yes — we treat patients across the entire age range, from infancy through to senior citizens. Common reasons children come in include sporting injuries, posture issues, and orthopaedic concerns identified by a paediatrician. For older patients we work extensively on arthritis management, balance and falls prevention, post-surgical rehab (joint replacements especially) and maintaining functional strength.
For Specialised Exercise sessions, yes — these can be delivered at your local fitness centre or, in some cases, at your home or workplace gym. Standard physiotherapy appointments and Clinical Pilates equipment sessions need to happen at the clinic, where we have the assessment space and Pilates apparatus. Ring reception to talk through what you have in mind and we'll let you know what's possible.
Yes — and we do this regularly. With your consent we'll write back to your referring GP after the initial assessment, send progress updates if treatment is ongoing, and liaise directly with orthopaedic surgeons or other specialists involved in your care. For Workcover and DVA cases, communication with case managers and treating doctors is part of the standard process.
Quickest way is to ring reception. Otherwise drop us a message and we'll be back to you the same business day.
