Common Questions
Landscaping — questions answered
What landscaping services does Designer Image offer?
We deliver complete structural and soft landscaping — decking, fencing, concreting for driveways and pathways, paving and tiling, pool surrounds and renovations, retaining, garden installation, turfing and irrigation. Because we handle both the hardscaping and the softscaping in-house, we can take a project from bare ground through to a finished, planted outdoor space without juggling multiple contractors. If you’re not sure which elements your project needs, we can walk the site with you and map it out.
Do you provide free quotes for landscaping work?
Yes. We provide an obligation-free quote for every landscaping enquiry. The best starting point is a site consultation so we can see the levels, access, soil and existing features first-hand. From there we put together a detailed quote that sets out the scope and staging clearly. Pricing depends on the size of the area, the materials selected and site conditions such as slope and access, so an on-site look-through gives you the most accurate figure.
Which areas do you cover for landscaping projects?
We service the greater Brisbane area and right across South East Queensland, with installation teams spanning from the Sunshine Coast down to the Gold Coast. Our central office is in Alderley, which keeps us well placed for projects throughout the northern and inner suburbs. If you’d like to confirm we cover your specific suburb, get in touch and we’ll let you know straight away.
How long does a typical landscaping project take?
Timeframes vary widely with scope. A focused job such as a deck or a section of new garden can be completed in a matter of days, while a full backyard transformation involving earthworks, concreting, retaining and planting runs longer and is usually staged. Once we’ve assessed your site we give you a realistic schedule and sequence so you know what to expect at each stage and which trades are on site when.
Are you licensed and insured for landscaping construction?
Yes. Designer Image is QBCC licensed (Licence 1065427) and fully insured, and we are members of Master Builders Queensland and Landscape Queensland. Our work is carried out by qualified landscape and trade professionals. For structural elements such as retaining walls we work alongside RPEQ certified engineers and licensed certifiers to ensure everything complies with local authority requirements.
Can you handle both the design and the construction?
Yes. We take a practical approach to landscape design and implementation, focusing on bringing your vision to fruition. Our team can advise on layout, materials, plant selection and how the hardscaping and softscaping work together, then construct the whole project. Having the same company plan and build the work means the design stays grounded in what can actually be delivered on your site and within your budget.
What is the difference between hard and soft landscaping?
Hardscaping covers the built structural elements — decking, fencing, concreting, paving, retaining walls and pool surrounds. Softscaping covers the living elements — garden beds, plant selection and sourcing, turf and irrigation. Most complete outdoor spaces need both, and the two need to be planned together so drainage, levels and access all work. We deliver both, which is why projects come together as one cohesive result.
Do you work on both new builds and established properties?
Yes. Designer Image has completed thousands of residential projects in both new-build areas and established suburbs since 2002. Established properties often bring challenges such as tight access, mature trees or existing structures, while new builds are more of a blank canvas. Our teams are experienced across both, and we tailor the construction approach and sequencing to suit the conditions on your particular site.
