Appliance Installation FAQs
Does a cooktop replacement need a licensed electrician?
Yes. In Queensland, connecting any fixed appliance to your home's wiring is electrical work that must be performed by a licensed electrician. This includes cooktops, ovens, rangehoods, dishwashers and hot water systems.
Can you replace my gas cooktop with an induction cooktop?
The electrical connection for an induction cooktop is our scope. If you're switching from gas to induction, you may also need a gas plumber to cap the gas line. We can advise on the full process.
How long does a cooktop installation take?
A straight cooktop replacement typically takes 1–2 hours. Owen and Jaxon are known for efficient, professional work — "the whole process was smooth from start to finish."
Do you connect dishwashers?
We handle the electrical connection for dishwashers. The plumbing (water supply and drain) is outside our scope unless you have a combined trade referral — we can point you to a plumber if needed.
Can you install a new circuit for a large appliance?
Yes. High-draw appliances like induction cooktops, ovens, and EV chargers often need a dedicated circuit from the switchboard. We assess the load and install the circuit as part of the appliance installation.
What happens if the appliance I bought doesn't fit the existing wiring?
Owen checks the wiring before connecting anything. If your new appliance has different requirements (e.g. different plug type, higher amperage), he'll advise on the safest solution before starting work.
Do you install rangehoods?
Yes. We handle the electrical connection for rangehoods. Ductwork and carpentry are outside our scope, but we often work alongside kitchen fitters on renovation projects.
Will you test the appliance after installation?
Yes. Owen and his team test every appliance before leaving to make sure it's working correctly — as one customer noted, "they made sure everything was working perfectly before they left."
