Frequently asked questions

Everything you might want to know before booking Mitch for your lawn, garden or landscaping job.

General

What suburbs does Mitch's Mowing and Landscaping cover?

We're based in Camp Hill and look after lawns and gardens across the inner and eastern suburbs of Brisbane, including Carina, Coorparoo, Bulimba and the surrounding areas. We service Greater Brisbane for mowing, garden care and small landscaping. If you're not sure whether your street is within our usual patch, just give Mitch a call or send a message and we'll happily let you know.

What are your hours?

Mitch's Mowing and Landscaping operates seven days a week, from 9:00am to 8:00pm Monday to Sunday. Those extended hours make it easy to reach us for a quote or a booking around your own schedule. We'll always confirm a day and time that suits you, and if you message outside those hours we'll get back to you as soon as we can the next day.

How do I get a quote?

Getting a quote is free and easy. Call Mitch on 0421 513 860 or send a message through the contact form with your suburb, a description of your yard and what you'd like done. A few photos always help. We'll either give you a price straight away or arrange a quick look at the property, and you'll always have a clear, up-front quote before any work begins.

How does your pricing work?

We price each job individually rather than working to a fixed price list, because every yard is different. The cost depends on the size of the job, its condition, what's involved and how much waste needs removing. Quotes are always free and given up front so there are no surprises. We're known for competitive rates and high-quality work, and we'll happily explain how a price is made up so you know exactly what you're paying for.

Do I need to be home when you visit?

For most regular lawn and garden visits you don't need to be home, as long as we have access to the yard and any gates are unlocked. If you have pets, locked side gates or particular instructions, just let us know when you book and we'll work around them. For quotes and landscaping jobs it's often helpful to meet on site so we can talk through exactly what you want, but that's something we'll arrange to suit you.

Do you offer regular visits or just one-off jobs?

Both. Many customers book Mitch for a regular fortnightly or monthly visit so their yard always looks its best without them thinking about it, while others just need a one-off tidy before an event, inspection or property sale. There's no lock-in contract — you choose what suits you, and you can move between one-off and regular visits whenever you like.

Can you take on an overgrown or neglected yard?

Yes — overgrown lawns and neglected gardens are something we handle regularly, whether it's a rental between tenants, a holiday home or a yard that's simply got away from you. The first visit on a badly overgrown property takes longer and is quoted accordingly, but once it's back under control, regular upkeep keeps it easy and affordable. Send Mitch some photos and we'll let you know what's involved to bring it back to its best.

Lawn services

How often should I have my lawn mowed in Brisbane?

It depends on the season and how fast your grass is growing. Through the warmer, wetter months most Brisbane lawns benefit from a mow every one to two weeks, while in the cooler months a tidy-up every three to four weeks is often enough. Mitch is happy to set up a regular schedule that suits your lawn and your budget, or simply come back when you need him.

What's included in a standard mow?

A standard visit covers mowing the lawn, edging along paths, driveways and garden beds, whipper snipping any spots the mower can't reach, and blowing down the hard surfaces so your place is left clean and tidy. If you'd like extras such as weed and feed or fertilizing added to the visit, just let us know when you book.

Do you offer weed and feed or lawn fertilizing?

Yes, we offer poisoning, weed and feed, and lawn and garden fertilizing as part of our lawn services. These treatments help thicken up the turf, keep weeds down and keep your grass healthy through the Brisbane seasons. We can include them as a one-off or work them into your regular maintenance schedule.

Do you bring your own mowing equipment?

Yes — Mitch and the team arrive fully equipped with mowers, edgers, whipper snippers and blowers, so there's nothing you need to provide. You don't even need to be home for most regular lawn visits, as long as we have access to the yard. More on lawn services →

Garden services

What does a garden tidy-up include?

A garden tidy-up is a general clean-up of your garden beds — weeding, light pruning, removing dead growth, neatening edges and clearing away the mess so the whole space looks cared for again. Depending on what your garden needs we can also fold in mulching, hedging and tree trimming.

Do you remove the green waste and clippings?

Yes. Taking the mess away is part of the service — we don't leave piles of clippings, prunings or weeds behind for you to deal with. Whether it's a general garden bed tidy or a bigger pruning and hedging job, your garden is left clean and finished when we go.

How tall a tree can you trim or remove?

Our tree trimming and removal service is height restricted to trees of around three to four metres. That covers most ornamental trees, small shade trees and overgrown shrubs in a typical Brisbane backyard. Anything taller or near power lines is a job for a licensed arborist. Landscaping services

What landscaping jobs do you take on?

We focus on small landscaping jobs that make a big difference to a yard — tree and shrub planting, garden bed revamping, path and stone laying, small retaining walls, and garden bed builds and design. If you've got an idea for your outdoor space, have a chat with Mitch and we'll let you know whether it's something we can take on.

Do you lay paths and stepping stones?

Yes — path and stone laying is one of our most requested landscaping jobs. Whether it's a stepping-stone path through the lawn, a stone or paver walkway to the back door, or a tidy path between garden beds, we prepare the ground properly and lay it so it sits level and lasts.

Can you build a small retaining wall?

Yes, we build small retaining walls — the kind used to terrace a gentle slope, tidy up a garden bed edge or hold back a low bank. Larger or higher retaining walls can require engineering and certification, so if your situation calls for that we'll let you know. More on landscaping services →
