Frequently asked questions.

The questions Brisbane homeowners and commercial clients ask us most, in plain language. Can't find what you're looking for? Send us a message.

How does Decoration Tiling charge for a job?
We quote per square metre after we've seen the space. The rate covers labour, adhesive, grout, sealing where needed, and a clean handover. Tiles are usually a separate line because clients pick them — though we're happy to source them on your behalf if that's easier. Quotes are free, fixed for 30 days, and we don't add anything mid-job unless the scope changes and you sign off on it.
How quickly can you start a job in Brisbane?
For most residential bathrooms and kitchens we can usually start within two to four weeks, depending on the queue. Commercial fitouts we plan around your trading hours so the doors stay open. If something's urgent — a leak under a tile, a damaged splashback before a property settlement — call us and we'll see what we can move.
Do you cover my Brisbane suburb?
Yes — we tile right across Brisbane's southside, eastside and bayside. Carindale, Springwood, Sunnybank, Capalaba, Manly, Mt Gravatt, Holland Park, Coorparoo, Wynnum and the surrounding suburbs are routine for us. If you're further out, ask — we travel a fair distance for the right job.
Do you warrant the tiling work?
Yes. Workmanship is warranted for two years against defects — that means cracked grout, lifting tiles or waterproofing failures down to how the work was done. The tiles themselves come with whatever warranty the manufacturer provides; we'll point you toward suppliers whose product holds up under Brisbane conditions.
How do you take payment?
Bank transfer or card. For most residential jobs we ask for a small deposit to lock in the start date, with the balance due on completion. Larger jobs we stage payments at agreed milestones so you're never paying a long way ahead of work that's been done.
How long does a typical bathroom or kitchen tile take?
A standard family bathroom — walls, floor, niche — is usually three to five days from removal to grout-cure. A kitchen splashback is one to two days. Outdoor patios and commercial work scale with the area and the substrate condition. We give you a day-by-day schedule with the quote so you know what to expect.
Do I need to prepare anything before you arrive?
Just clear the room and let us know about anything fragile within reach. We bring drop sheets, dust barriers and our own power. If we're replacing existing tiles we handle the removal and disposal — there's nothing for you to organise on demolition day except where to put the kettle.
What happens if something goes wrong after the job is finished?
Call us. The two-year workmanship warranty covers genuine workmanship issues — we come back, look at it, and fix anything that's on us at no charge. We've been around long enough that the post-job phone call usually ends with us back at the property the same week.
How long does bathroom tiling usually take?
It depends on the size and complexity, but a typical residential job runs three to five working days from start to grout-cure. We'll give you a day-by-day schedule with the written quote so you're not guessing about access or timing.
Do I need to supply tiles for the bathroom tiling job?
You can — many clients enjoy picking tiles themselves. If you'd rather skip the showroom rounds, we'll bring you samples that suit your space and budget. Either way, we'll talk through wear-rating, slip-rating and grout colour before anything goes down.
What surface preparation does bathroom tiling need?
Levels, substrate condition and (where relevant) waterproofing all have to be right before any tile is laid. We assess the substrate when we quote — if it needs grinding, screeding, sheeting or waterproofing, we tell you up-front so the job is priced honestly.
How long does outdoor tiling usually take?
