Lawn care questions

How does pricing work for lawn mowing?+
Every yard is different, so CJ's Lawn Care prices each job individually rather than using a flat rate. Pricing depends on the size of your lawn, how often you want it done, and how much edging and clean-up is involved. Regular customers on a routine cut often pay less per visit than a one-off overgrown tidy-up. The simplest way to get a clear figure is to send through your suburb and a rough idea of the yard, or book a quick look in person. You'll always have a price before any work starts.
How often should I have my lawn mowed?+
It depends on the season and your grass type. Through the warmer Brisbane months lawns grow quickly and a fortnightly cut usually keeps things looking sharp, while winter growth slows down and monthly visits are often enough. Many customers set up a regular schedule so they never have to think about it, and others book as needed. We're happy to recommend a rhythm based on your lawn, and you can always adjust it as the seasons change.
Do I need to be home when you mow?+
No — most regular customers aren't home when their lawn is done, and that's completely fine. As long as we can access the areas that need work, the job goes ahead as scheduled. If you have a locked side gate, a dog, or a particular spot you'd like us to focus on, just let us know the details when you book. Many customers like that they can come home to a freshly cut lawn without having to organise their day around it.
Do you remove the lawn clippings?+
A standard mow includes a thorough blow-down so paths, driveways and edges are left clean and clear. For most regular cuts, light clippings are mulched back into the lawn, which is good for the grass. If your lawn is long or you'd prefer the clippings collected and taken away, just mention it when you book so we can plan for it. We'll always talk through what suits your lawn before getting started.
Can you take on a lawn that's badly overgrown?+
Yes. Overgrown lawns are a common starting point — many customers first call when things have gotten away from them. An overgrown lawn usually needs a bit more time and care on the first visit, and occasionally a second pass, so it's quoted separately from a regular cut. Once it's back under control, an ongoing schedule keeps it that way and is far easier to manage. Send a photo or description and we'll let you know the best approach.
What areas do you mow lawns in?+
CJ's Lawn Care is based in Carina Heights and mows lawns across the surrounding south-east Brisbane suburbs, including Carina, Carindale, Camp Hill, Coorparoo, Cannon Hill, Holland Park and Mount Gravatt. Being a local service means we can keep travel short and response times quick. If you're in a nearby suburb that isn't listed, it's still worth getting in touch — there's a good chance you're within our regular run.
How do I book a regular mowing schedule?+
Booking is straightforward. Get in touch by phone, text or the quote form with your address and a rough idea of the yard, and we'll confirm a price and a schedule that suits you. From there your lawn is looked after on a regular rhythm — fortnightly, monthly, or whatever fits — and you'll know when to expect us. You can pause, adjust or change the schedule any time; there are no lock-in contracts.

Gardening questions

What does a garden bed clean-up include?+
A garden bed clean-up clears out weeds, fallen leaves and general debris so your beds look fresh and your plants have room to breathe. It's a great reset for beds that have been neglected for a while, and a good lead-in to mulching or new planting. Every garden is different, so the work is tailored to what your beds actually need. Let us know what you'd like the end result to look like and we'll talk through the best way to get there.
How much does hedge and tree trimming cost?+
Trimming is priced per job, because hedges and trees vary so much in size, height and condition. A regularly maintained hedge is quick to shape, while one that hasn't been touched in a long time takes more time and care. Pricing also factors in how much green waste is created and how it's handled. The clearest way to get a figure is to send a photo or book a quick look — you'll always have a price agreed before any trimming begins.
Do you trim large or tall trees?+
CJ's Lawn Care handles hedge and tree trimming as part of regular garden maintenance — shaping hedges, tidying small trees and keeping growth in check. Very large trees, or work that needs climbing or removal, generally falls to a specialist arborist for safety reasons. If you're not sure which category your job falls into, get in touch and describe what you've got. We'll give you an honest answer and point you in the right direction if it's outside what we do.
Can you help plant new shrubs and plants?+
Yes. Plant and shrub planting is part of the gardening service, whether you're filling a gap in an existing bed or freshening up a tired-looking area. We can plant stock you've already bought, or talk through what tends to do well in local conditions. Let us know what look you're after and the spot you have in mind, and we'll work out a sensible plan. As with all our work, you'll get a clear quote before anything goes in the ground.
Can gardening be combined with my regular mow?+
Absolutely — and most customers find it the easiest way to keep the whole yard looking good. Gardening work can be scheduled alongside your regular lawn visits, or booked as a separate one-off tidy-up when beds need attention. Combining services in one visit also keeps things efficient. When you get in touch, just mention everything you'd like looked after and we'll put together a plan and a price that covers the lot.
What happens to the green waste?+
After a clean-up or trimming job, the area is left tidy and the work is finished properly. How green waste is handled depends on the job — light trimmings are sometimes left bagged for your council green bin, while larger amounts may need to be taken away, which is factored into the quote. We'll always talk through the green waste plan with you up front so there are no surprises and you know exactly what to expect when the job's done.

Weed Control

Keep weeds in check — done properly, by a licensed operator.

Weeds compete with your lawn and plants for water and nutrients, and left alone they spread fast. CJ's Lawn Care is fully commercially licensed in herbicide application, keeping a range of different weeds under control across lawns and garden beds so your outdoor space stays clean and healthy.

Weed control questions

Are you licensed to apply herbicide?+
Yes. CJ's Lawn Care is fully commercially licensed in herbicide application. That means weed treatments are carried out by a licensed operator who understands how to apply products correctly and responsibly. A proper licence matters because it covers safe handling, correct product selection and the right application rates — all of which protect your lawn, your plants and the people and pets around the property. It's a key part of why customers trust us with weed control rather than leaving it to chance.
How does weed control pricing work?+
Weed control is quoted per job rather than at a fixed rate, because the size of the area, the type of weeds and how widespread they are all make a difference. A spot treatment in a single bed is a smaller job than treating a whole lawn that's been overrun. Pricing is always agreed with you before any treatment starts. The best way to get an accurate figure is to describe the problem area or send a photo, and we'll let you know what's involved.
What kinds of weeds can you treat?+
CJ's Lawn Care treats a range of different weeds across both lawns and garden beds. Different weeds respond to different approaches, which is where a licensed operator's knowledge counts — choosing the right method for the weed and the spot it's growing in. If you've got a particular weed that keeps coming back, mention it when you get in touch. We'll talk through what's realistic, since some weeds clear in one treatment and others need ongoing attention.
Is weed treatment safe around children and pets?+
Weed treatments are carried out by a commercially licensed operator, which means products are handled, mixed and applied according to their proper guidelines. Part of responsible application is advising you on anything you need to know afterwards, such as keeping off a treated area until it has dried. If you have young children or pets, just let us know when you book and we'll factor that into how and when the treatment is done so you can plan around it comfortably.
How long until weeds are gone after treatment?+
Most weed treatments take a little time to show their full effect rather than working instantly — that's normal and expected. How quickly you'll see results depends on the weed type and the conditions at the time. Some areas clear up well after a single treatment, while persistent or widespread weeds may need a follow-up. We'll give you a realistic idea of what to expect for your particular situation, so you know whether one visit will do it or whether ongoing control is the smarter approach.
Can weed control be part of regular maintenance?+
Yes, and for many properties that's the most effective approach. Staying on top of weeds with periodic treatment is far easier than letting them take hold and then trying to claw an overrun lawn back. Weed control can be combined with your regular mowing and gardening visits so the whole yard is looked after together. When you get in touch, mention that you'd like weeds kept in check and we'll build it into a plan that suits your property and your budget.
