FREQUENTLY
ASKED
Everything you need to know about working with TSF Electrical & Air.
Do you handle full home rewires?
Yes. We carry out complete rewires for older homes that no longer meet current Australian standards, and partial rewires for renovations. We'll provide a full quote after an on-site assessment.
Can you install extra powerpoints in my home?
Absolutely. Adding powerpoints is one of our most common domestic jobs — we can run new circuits from the switchboard or extend existing ones, all to AS/NZS 3000 standards.
What is a safety inspection and when do I need one?
A residential electrical safety inspection checks wiring, switchboard, earthing and RCDs for compliance and hazards. Recommended when buying a home, after storm damage, or if the property hasn't been inspected in 5+ years.
Do you work after hours to avoid disrupting my business?
Yes. We regularly schedule commercial jobs after hours or on weekends to minimise disruption to trading hours — just let us know your requirements when booking.
Can you handle a full commercial fitout electrical?
Yes. We manage all electrical aspects of commercial fitouts from design and specification through to certification — powerpoints, lighting, data, air conditioning and switchboard work.
Do you carry out periodic compliance testing?
Yes. We carry out periodic verification testing for commercial premises and issue the required compliance documentation for your records and insurance.
What CCTV systems do you install?
We install IP-based CCTV systems with remote viewing via smartphone — suitable for homes, retail, offices and industrial sites. We can advise on camera placement to maximise coverage.
Can you integrate security with my smart home system?
Yes. We work with popular smart home platforms to integrate security cameras, alarms and access control into a unified system you can manage from one app.
Do you install alarm systems for businesses?
Yes. We install and configure alarm systems for commercial premises, including monitored alarms for after-hours protection.
What are the benefits of upgrading to LED downlights?
LED downlights use 75–85% less energy than halogen equivalents, run cooler (reducing fire risk), last 25,000+ hours and produce better quality light. The payback period on most Gold Coast homes is under 3 years.
Can you install dimmable LED circuits?
Yes. We install dimmable LED downlights using compatible leading-edge or trailing-edge dimmers — and we'll test the combination to ensure flicker-free performance before we leave.
Do you install pendant lights over kitchen islands?
Yes. Pendant installations over kitchen islands and dining tables are a speciality — we ensure the pendant is centred, at the correct height, and properly supported in the ceiling structure.
Do you install Cat6 data cabling in homes?
Yes. We run Cat6 cabling from a central patch panel or router location to every room you need — giving you wired internet speeds and reliability that Wi-Fi can't match.
Can you help with my NBN connection?
Yes. We can install or relocate the NBN equipment mounting point, run internal cabling to your preferred router location, and ensure your internal network is configured for best performance.
Do you install TV antenna systems?
Yes. We install and upgrade TV antennas, run coax cabling to multiple rooms, and connect distribution amplifiers for multi-point setups.
What type of EV charger do you install?
We install Level 2 AC chargers (Type 2 connector) for home and commercial use — typically 7.4kW single-phase or 22kW three-phase. These charge most EVs fully overnight from a flat battery.
Do I need to upgrade my switchboard for an EV charger?
It depends on your existing switchboard capacity. We assess your current electrical load and advise whether an upgrade is required before committing to a quote.
Can you install EV chargers for a business or car park?
Yes. We design and install multi-bay EV charging infrastructure for car parks, commercial premises and fleet depots — including load management systems to prevent overloading the supply.
How often should air conditioning units be serviced?
Residential split systems benefit from a professional service every 12 months — cleaning filters, coils and drains, and checking refrigerant levels. Commercial units used heavily may need servicing every 6 months.
What does an electrical maintenance inspection include?
We inspect switchboards, test RCDs and circuit breakers, check earthing, inspect visible wiring and connections, and test any safety systems — then provide a written report with findings.
Do you carry out air conditioning gas top-ups?
Yes. We carry the relevant refrigerant handling certifications and can check and top up refrigerant levels as part of a service visit.
