General Questions
What areas of Brisbane do you service?
We service regular clients throughout inner Brisbane, including Balmoral, Bulimba, Cannon Hill, Camp Hill, Carina, Coorparoo, East Brisbane, Hawthorne, Morningside, Norman Park and Seven Hills. For larger projects such as half-day, full-day or multi-day work, we also travel to surrounding areas like Mt Gravatt and Moorooka. Get in touch to discuss your location.
What are your hours?
Our team works Monday to Friday, from 7:00am to 3:30pm. In peak season we occasionally take on longer days to keep on top of growth. The best way to reach us is to call or send an enquiry through our website, and we'll get back to you to arrange a quote or service.
Are you insured?
Yes. Our work is insured to $10 million and all our staff are police checked. Whether we're maintaining a private home, a strata property, a commercial site or a government space, you can have us on your property with complete peace of mind.
How do I get a quote?
Getting a quote is easy and free. Call us or send an enquiry through our website with your suburb, the type of property, and what you'd like done. We'll review the details and get back to you with a tailored, no-obligation quote. There are no lock-in contracts, so you only stay with us if you're happy with the work.
How do payments work?
We make paying as easy as possible. You can pay per visit, or set up optional automatic payments via direct debit or credit card, so ongoing services are handled in the background without invoices or due dates to remember. With no lock-in contracts, the choice is always yours.
Do I need to sign a contract?
No. We don't use lock-in contracts. We believe our quality and reliable service are what keep customers happy and loyal, so you stay with us by choice. If your needs change, we'll happily adjust your service to suit.
What types of properties do you work on?
We work with residential, strata and body corporate, commercial and industrial, and government properties. From keeping a family home the best-looking on the street to maintaining commercial grounds and public spaces to a high standard, we tailor our service to what each property needs.
Who will be doing the work on my property?
The Green Standard is led by Joe, who has years of hands-on experience in grounds maintenance, including four years with Jim's. We're a small, hardworking crew who take pride in showing up on time, doing the job right, and leaving your property looking its best every visit.
Lawn Mowing
How do you price lawn mowing?
Our lawn mowing is quoted per property based on the size and layout of your yard, how often you'd like us to visit, and the access we have to the site. We provide a free quote up front so you know what to expect, and there are no lock-in contracts. We also offer optional automatic payment via direct debit or credit card, so you never have to chase invoices or remember due dates.
What's included in a standard mow?
Every mow covers the full job, not just a quick cut. We mow for a clean, even finish, cut in neat straight lines along paths and driveways, and blow down all hard surfaces afterwards, including the street gutter. We also spot-spray for weeds in garden beds to keep everything tidy between visits, so your property looks genuinely cared for.
How often should I have my lawn mowed?
Most Brisbane lawns do best with fortnightly mowing through the warmer growing months, then less frequent visits as growth slows in winter. The right schedule depends on your grass type, how much sun and water the lawn gets, and how sharp you like it kept. We're happy to recommend a frequency when we quote, and you can adjust it at any time.
Do I need to be home when you mow?
No. Most of our regular mowing clients aren't home when we visit, which is one of the conveniences of a reliable service. As long as we have clear access to the lawn areas, we'll take care of everything and leave the property looking its best. If a gate needs unlocking or there's a pet to consider, just let us know and we'll work around it.
Which suburbs do you mow in?
We service regular lawn mowing clients across inner south-east Brisbane, including Bulimba, Balmoral, Hawthorne, Morningside, Norman Park, Coorparoo, Camp Hill, Carina, Cannon Hill, East Brisbane and Seven Hills. For larger half-day or multi-day projects we also travel further afield, so it's always worth getting in touch about your location.
Can you mow a lawn that's badly overgrown?
Yes. If your lawn has been neglected for a while, we can bring it back under control, though a very overgrown yard may need an initial clean-up visit before it settles into a regular mowing routine. Get in touch and we'll let you know the best approach when we quote, so the result looks sharp from the first visit.
How do I pay for ongoing mowing?
We make payment as easy as the mowing itself. You can pay per visit, or set up optional automatic direct debit or credit card payments so it's handled in the background. With no lock-in contracts, you stay with us because you're happy with the work, not because you're tied in.
Lawn & Garden Packages
What does a lawn and garden package include?
Our packages are designed to keep your whole property maintained year-round in one reliable service. Through the peak growing season you get fortnightly mowing with sharp lines and edges, and as growth slows in the cooler months we switch to seasonal lawn care treatments. We also handle tailored garden maintenance on a rotation, so nothing is left to become overgrown.
How is a package priced?
Package pricing is tailored to your property, based on its size, the mix of lawn and garden areas, and how involved you'd like us to be. We'll walk through the options with you and provide a clear, free quote. There are no lock-in contracts, and optional automatic payments mean you never have to think about invoices.
What happens to my package in winter?
When lawn growth slows in the cooler months, we substitute mowing visits with seasonal services that your property actually needs at that time of year, such as fertilising, spraying for winter weeds and bindii prickles, preventative lawn grub treatment, and concrete pressure washing. Your property still gets expert attention every visit, all year round.
How does the rotational garden maintenance work?
Rather than trying to do everything at once, we work through your garden a section or element at a time across visits. By the time we've covered the whole property, it's time to start back at the beginning. This rotation keeps everything consistently tidy and means nothing is ever left long enough to become overgrown.
Can I choose what gets done each visit?
Absolutely. You decide how involved you want to be. You can give us a specific list of what you'd like done, or leave it to us to assess and decide what your property most needs each time. Many clients enjoy simply handing it over, knowing the property is being looked after by people who care about the result.
Which areas do you offer packages in?
We offer lawn and garden packages to regular clients throughout inner Brisbane, including Bulimba, Balmoral, Hawthorne, Morningside, Norman Park, Coorparoo, Camp Hill, Carina, Cannon Hill, East Brisbane and Seven Hills. If you're nearby, get in touch and we'll let you know if we can fit your property into our regular run.
Am I locked into a contract?
No. Our packages run without lock-in contracts. We believe our quality and reliability are what keep customers with us, not paperwork. If your needs change, the package can be adjusted, and optional automatic payments simply make the ongoing service effortless.
Hedge Trimming
How do you quote hedge trimming?
Hedge trimming is quoted based on the size, height and number of hedges, their current condition, and how much access we have around them. A formal hedge needing a routine tidy is quite different from an overgrown hedge that needs to be brought back under control. We'll assess your hedges and give you a clear, free quote with no obligation.
Can you cut back a hedge that's badly overgrown?
Yes. Whether you have a neat formal hedge that needs regular shaping or an overgrown monster that needs taming, we can bring it back to a tidy, well-defined shape. Severely overgrown hedges sometimes need a harder initial cut followed by regular maintenance, and we'll explain the best approach for the long-term health and look of your hedge.
How often should hedges be trimmed?
Most hedges look their best with regular trims through the growing season, with the exact frequency depending on the plant species and how crisp you like the shape kept. Faster-growing hedges need more attention than slower ones. We can recommend a schedule when we quote, or include hedge trimming as part of a lawn and garden package.
Do you clean up the clippings afterwards?
Yes. A tidy finish is part of the job. We clear away the trimmings and leave the area around your hedges neat, so the whole space feels cared for, not just the hedge itself. Leaving a property looking its best at the end of every visit is something we take genuine pride in.
Which suburbs do you trim hedges in?
We trim hedges for regular clients across inner Brisbane, including Bulimba, Balmoral, Hawthorne, Morningside, Norman Park, Coorparoo, Camp Hill, Carina, Cannon Hill, East Brisbane and Seven Hills. For larger projects we also travel to surrounding areas, so it's worth getting in touch to discuss your location.
Can hedge trimming be added to a regular service?
Yes. Many clients have their hedges trimmed as part of an ongoing lawn and garden package, so it's looked after on a rotation alongside their mowing and garden maintenance. You can also book hedge trimming as a one-off if you just need your hedges brought back into shape.
Is your hedge work insured?
Yes. Our work is insured to $10 million and all our staff are police checked, so you can have a hedge brought under control with complete peace of mind. We bring the right equipment for the job and focus on safety and a clean, professional finish.
Garden Clean-Ups
What does a garden clean-up involve?
A garden clean-up transforms an untidy, neglected garden into a space that looks sharp and is easy to maintain. Depending on your property, we cut back overgrown branches and remove small trees, clear out weeds and unwanted plants, mow lawns that have been left for months, remove large piles of green waste, and chip branches into mulch you can reuse in your own garden.
How is a garden clean-up priced?
Clean-ups are quoted on the size of the area, how overgrown it is, and how much green waste needs to be removed. Because every neglected garden is different, we always look at the property before giving you a clear, free quote. There's no obligation, and you'll know what's involved before any work starts.
How long does a clean-up take?
It depends on the size of the garden and how overgrown it has become. Some clean-ups are done in a single visit, while larger or heavily neglected properties may need a half-day, full day, or multiple days. We'll give you a realistic timeframe when we quote so you can plan around it.
Do you remove the green waste?
Yes. Removing large piles of green waste is a standard part of our clean-up service. Where it makes sense, we also chip branches on site to create mulch you can reuse in your own garden beds, which is a tidy, practical way to put the cuttings to good use rather than simply hauling everything away.
Are clean-ups good for properties going up for sale?
Definitely. A garden clean-up is one of the most effective ways to lift a property's presentation before a sale, an inspection, or new tenants moving in. A tidy, well-presented garden helps a property look cared for and can add real value, and we can turn an overgrown yard around quickly.
Which suburbs do you do clean-ups in?
We carry out garden clean-ups across inner Brisbane, including Bulimba, Balmoral, Hawthorne, Morningside, Norman Park, Coorparoo, Camp Hill, Carina, Cannon Hill, East Brisbane and Seven Hills. For larger multi-day clean-ups we also travel to surrounding areas, so get in touch to discuss your property and location.
What happens after the clean-up is done?
Once your garden is back under control, many clients move onto a regular mowing schedule or a lawn and garden package so it never becomes overgrown again. We're happy to recommend an ongoing plan that keeps the property looking its best, but there's no obligation and no lock-in contracts.
Lawn Care
What lawn care treatments do you offer?
Our lawn care covers the treatments that keep turf healthy beyond just mowing. We offer seasonal fertilising to boost growth and colour, winter weed and bindii prickle spraying to stop weeds like clover, dandelions and thistles before they spread, and lawn grub control to protect your lawn from hidden damage. Together these keep your grass green, healthy and prickle-free.
How is lawn care priced?
Lawn care is quoted based on the size of your lawn and which treatments it needs. Treatments can be booked as a one-off or added to your regular mowing schedule. We'll recommend what your lawn would benefit from and provide a free, no-obligation quote so you can decide what suits you.
When is the best time to treat for weeds and bindii?
The ideal time to spray for winter weeds and bindii prickles is before they spread and set their prickles, so timely treatment in the cooler months makes a real difference to barefoot days later on. We can time treatments for you as part of a regular service, so it's handled at the right point in the season without you having to think about it.
Can lawn care be added to my mowing service?
Yes. Lawn care treatments can be added to your regular mowing schedule, or booked as a one-off when your lawn needs a boost. For our lawn and garden package clients, we substitute mowing with these treatments when growth slows in the cooler months, so your lawn still gets expert care all year round.
What does grub control involve?
Lawn grubs can cause hidden damage or even total destruction of a lawn if they're left unchecked. Our grub control uses targeted treatments that stop grubs before they ruin your turf. Catching the problem early is the key, so it's worth treating preventatively rather than waiting for visible damage to appear.
Which suburbs do you provide lawn care in?
We provide lawn care for regular clients throughout inner Brisbane, including Bulimba, Balmoral, Hawthorne, Morningside, Norman Park, Coorparoo, Camp Hill, Carina, Cannon Hill, East Brisbane and Seven Hills. If you're nearby and want your lawn looking healthier, get in touch for a quote.
Will lawn care really make a difference to my grass?
A great lawn is more than a neat cut. Regular feeding, weed control and grub protection address the issues that mowing alone can't, helping your turf stay thicker, greener and more resilient through the seasons. Combined with regular mowing, good lawn care is what keeps a lawn genuinely looking its best.
Mulching
Why should I mulch my garden beds?
Mulching is one of the simplest and most effective ways to keep a garden healthy, tidy and low-maintenance. A fresh layer of mulch instantly gives your beds a clean, finished look, and it also locks in soil moisture, regulates soil temperature, suppresses weeds, improves soil health as it breaks down, and helps reduce erosion and compaction from heavy rain.
How is mulching priced?
Mulching is quoted based on the size of the garden beds being covered and the amount of mulch required. We'll assess your garden and provide a clear, free quote with no obligation, so you know exactly what's involved before we start.
How does mulch help with weeds and watering?
A good thick layer of mulch blocks sunlight from reaching weed seeds, which keeps beds neater and easier to manage. At the same time, mulch helps the soil hold moisture for longer, so your garden needs less frequent watering and your plants stay healthier through hot, dry spells.
How often should mulch be topped up?
Organic mulch slowly breaks down over time, enriching the soil as it does, which means beds benefit from being topped up periodically to keep the protective layer effective. How often depends on the mulch type and your garden's conditions. We can include mulching as part of a regular garden maintenance rotation so it's looked after for you.
Does mulching really improve soil health?
Yes. As organic mulch breaks down, it enriches the soil and encourages earthworm and microbial activity, which are signs of a healthy, living garden bed. Mulch also keeps roots cooler in summer and warmer in winter, protecting your plants year-round and helping them establish and thrive.
Which suburbs do you mulch in?
We provide garden mulching for clients across inner Brisbane, including Bulimba, Balmoral, Hawthorne, Morningside, Norman Park, Coorparoo, Camp Hill, Carina, Cannon Hill, East Brisbane and Seven Hills. Get in touch to discuss your garden and we'll let you know how we can help.
Can mulching be combined with other garden work?
Yes. Mulching often works best alongside a garden clean-up or as part of an ongoing lawn and garden package, so your beds are refreshed and then kept tidy on a rotation. We're happy to handle the heavy lifting so your garden stays looking green and thriving.
