About McGrath & Frisby.

Do you cover Ashgrove and the surrounding areas?

Yes. McGrath & Frisby services Ashgrove, Bardon, The Gap, Red Hill, Paddington, Kelvin Grove, Newmarket, Wilston, Stafford, Mitchelton, Toowong and the wider Brisbane area. Our workshop is at Shop 1/480 Waterworks Rd, Ashgrove QLD 4060. If you're nearby and unsure whether your suburb is covered, give us a call on 07 3366 2550 and we'll let you know straight away. We've been operating across Greater Brisbane since 1954, so most of the city falls within our standard service radius.

What hours are you open?

Our office is open Monday to Friday, 8am to 4pm. McGrath & Frisby has been Brisbane's go-to family-run plumbing and electrical team since 1954, and our crews are out on jobs throughout the day. The fastest way to lock in a time is to call 07 3366 2550 during business hours, or to send the form on this site any time — we read messages first thing the next business day and respond the same day in most cases.

Are you licensed and insured?

McGrath & Frisby holds a current Electrical Licence (Lic. 83466) and a QBSA Licence (Lic. 16644), and operates as Master Plumbers, Drainers, Electricians and Gas Fitters in Queensland. We're fully insured for residential and commercial work — that includes public liability cover for the work we do on-site. Compliance certificates are issued for completed electrical and plumbing jobs as the trade requires.

What payment methods do you accept?

We accept bank transfer, EFT, and major credit cards. Quotes are provided in writing, and most jobs are billed on completion. For larger projects (commercial fit-outs, multi-day plumbing or full rewires) we'll usually agree a milestone or progress-claim schedule upfront so there are no surprises. We can talk through the right approach for your project when you call 07 3366 2550.

How do I get a quote?

The simplest way is to send the form on this page with a few details — what the job is, where it is, and when you'd like it done. We'll come back the same business day with either a fixed-price quote or a written assessment of the next step. For straightforward repair work (a leaking tap, a tripping circuit, a hot water unit that's stopped working) we can usually price the job over the phone after a few quick questions. Call 07 3366 2550.

Do you back your work with a warranty?

Yes. All workmanship is backed by McGrath & Frisby as licensed Master Plumbers and Electricians. New parts and equipment we install carry their manufacturer's warranty (typically 12 months on tapware and switchgear, and longer on hot water systems and major appliances — depends on the brand). If something we've installed isn't right, call us and we'll come back and put it right.

Plumbing questions.

How quickly can you come out for plumbing work?

For plumbing jobs across Brisbane we typically schedule within one or two business days. If it's a genuine emergency — water flooding, no power on a circuit you need, a hot water system that's burst — call us first thing on 07 3366 2550 and we'll do our best to get someone out the same day. Office hours are Monday to Friday, 8am to 4pm.

Do you handle both residential and commercial plumbing work?

Yes. McGrath & Frisby has been doing both since 1954. On the residential side that's everything from a single tap repair, hot water replacement, switchboard upgrade, light fitting or oven install through to whole-home renovations and rewires. On the commercial side our team handles fit-outs, shop and office maintenance, body-corporate work, and major building projects. Our experienced crew of plumbers, drainers, electricians and gas fitters covers the lot.

How is plumbing pricing structured?

For most plumbing jobs we'll quote a fixed price after a quick call or a free on-site assessment. For urgent or after-hours work, a call-out rate applies, and we'll always tell you what that is before we start. We don't surprise customers with end-of-job add-ons — if scope changes, we stop and confirm with you first.

Are your plumbing jobs covered by a warranty?

Yes. Workmanship is covered as part of our master-licensed cover. Any parts or fixtures we supply carry their manufacturer warranty (typically 12 months on smaller items and longer for hot water systems, motors and major switchgear). Compliance certificates are issued for any plumbing work the law requires, so you have proof the job was signed off correctly.

Do I need to be home while the plumbing work is being done?

Not always — it depends on the job. For straightforward repairs in accessible areas (the meter box, an external tap, the hot water system) we can often work without you being there if there's safe access. For interior work or anything that involves shutting off water or power, having someone home for the start of the job is best. We'll confirm what's needed when you book.

What's the next step if I want to book plumbing work?

Send the form on this page with your suburb, what the job is, and a rough idea of when you'd like it done. Or call 07 3366 2550 during business hours (Monday–Friday, 8am–4pm). We'll either give you a price over the phone or arrange a free assessment on-site. Either way you'll hear back from a real person at McGrath & Frisby the same business day.
