Do you cover Paddington and the inner Brisbane suburbs?+
Yes. Desire Landscapes is based in Paddington and works on residential gardens, turf and outdoor projects right across Brisbane and the surrounding suburbs. If you are nearby and not sure whether your street is covered, get in touch with your address and we will confirm straight away. Most of our residential work is concentrated through the inner and western Brisbane suburbs, but we are happy to look at projects further out depending on the scope and timing.
How does pricing work for turf and garden projects?+
Every yard is different, so we quote each job individually rather than working from a fixed price list. After an enquiry we arrange a look at the space, talk through what you want to achieve, and then provide a clear written quote. Things that affect the price include the size of the area, how much ground preparation and levelling is needed, access to the site, the type of turf or materials chosen, and any retaining or fencing involved. There is no obligation to proceed once you have the quote.
What is involved in a turf installation?+
A proper turf installation is much more than rolling out grass. We scrape and level the existing yard, prepare the ground, and lay nutrient-rich soil underneath so the turf has the best base to establish in. The turf is then laid neatly and consolidated. Before we leave we talk you through watering and lawn care so your new lawn settles in well. We are a preferred turf installer for major turf farms around Brisbane, which means you get quality turf and an installation done the right way.
Can you help me choose the right type of grass?+
Absolutely, and it is one of the most useful conversations to have before any turf goes down. The best grass for your yard depends on how much sun and shade the space gets, how the lawn will be used, and how much ongoing maintenance suits your lifestyle. We will look at your yard, ask a few questions, and recommend a turf variety that will actually thrive in your conditions rather than struggle. Getting this choice right at the start saves a lot of frustration later.
Do you build retaining walls and fences as well?+
Yes. Alongside turf and garden work we build timber fencing, timber sleeper retaining walls and concrete sleeper retaining walls. Retaining and fencing often go hand in hand with a landscaping project because they shape, level and define the usable space in a yard. Handling this work as part of the same project means everything is coordinated, the levels are right, and the finished result looks considered rather than pieced together by different trades at different times.
What is a site consult and what does it include?+
A site consult is a 45-minute on-site session where you can bounce your ideas off us and get our recommendations. We cover design and layout, plant suggestions, material suggestions and general problem solving for tricky parts of the yard. It is a great option if you want expert direction before committing to a full project. If you would like to take it further, we also offer a mood board add-on showing plants and materials discussed, and a design mock-up add-on showing how your new yard could look.
How should I prepare for my quote or consult?+
A little preparation makes the visit far more productive. It helps to have some ideas ready, such as the style of garden you like and how you want to use the space. Think about any existing features you want kept or removed. It is also useful to know which areas of the yard get sun and shade, and roughly how many hours. You do not need to have everything figured out, that is what we are there for, but the more you can share the more tailored our advice and quote will be.
How long does a residential landscaping project take?+
It depends entirely on the scope. A straightforward turf replacement is a much shorter job than a full yard transformation involving ground preparation, retaining, fencing and planting. Once we have seen the space and understood what you want, we give you a realistic timeframe as part of the quote so there are no surprises. We keep you informed as the project moves along, and our aim is always to arrive when we say we will and deliver the result we promised.
