Brisbane tiling, explained.

Pricing, coverage, scheduling, licensing, warranties — the answers most clients want before they call.

/ General

About the business.

Do you cover Paddington and the rest of Brisbane's inner west?

Yes. Paddington is the home base and the bulk of the work sits across Bardon, Red Hill, Auchenflower, Toowong, Milton, Ashgrove, and the inner east — Bulimba, Hawthorne, New Farm, Kangaroo Point, Ascot, Hamilton. For larger renovations and stone façade work we'll travel further west out to Samford and Chapel Hill, and into Indooroopilly and the western corridor.

What hours are you on the tools?

Standard tiling hours are Monday to Friday, 7am to 4pm. We're flexible on start time for noise-sensitive jobs (apartment buildings, occupied bathrooms in busy households) and we'll work later in the day if a job is being chased to a hard deadline. Weekends are reserved for the family — no Saturday or Sunday calls except for emergencies on jobs already in progress.

Are you licensed and insured?

Yes — public liability and workers' compensation insurance are current and certificates can be sent with the quote. All wet-area waterproofing is completed to the AS 3740 standard and documentation is provided for any job that requires building-certifier sign-off.

How do you charge — call-out fee, hourly, fixed quote?

Fixed quote, written, signed off before the work starts. The site visit and quote are free inside the Brisbane inner-north area. The quote breaks out labour, waterproofing, set-out, and disposal so you can see exactly what you're paying for, and the number doesn't move once it's signed unless you change the scope of the job mid-build.

How do I get a quote?

The fastest way is the contact form below — name, phone, suburb, and a sentence on the job. We'll text or call back the same business day to lock in a site visit, usually within the week. Bring the tile sample and the measurements if you have them; if you don't, we'll measure on site.

What payment methods do you accept?

Bank transfer is preferred — invoices include account details, BSB, and a reference. Card payment is available for smaller jobs (surcharge applies). Standard payment terms on residential jobs are a deposit on confirmation, progress payment at the waterproofing stage on larger jobs, and the balance on practical completion. No payment is due until the work is signed off.

Do you do warranty work after the job is finished?

Yes. Workmanship is warranted in writing on the final invoice. If the install develops a fault inside the warranty period — a cracked grout joint that wasn't a movement-joint issue, a delaminated tile that wasn't down to substrate movement, a waterproofing membrane breach we caused — we come back and fix it without paperwork.

Do you tile commercial work or just residential?

Residential is the bread and butter — full-home renovations, bathroom retiles, pool surrounds, stone feature walls, custom kitchens. Commercial is selective: we take on small commercial fit-outs, bathrooms in offices and gyms, café splashbacks. We don't take on large multi-bathroom apartment-tower jobs — those need a crew of ten and that's not what this business is.

/ Bathroom Tiling

Bathroom Tiling questions.

How do you charge for bathroom tiling?

Quotes for bathroom tiling are itemised — labour, materials, waterproofing if required, set-out and movement-joint detail, and disposal of demo material if it's a renovation. The quote is fixed before the job starts; you sign off on the number, the start date, and the schedule of stages, and the price doesn't move unless you change the scope. There's no call-out fee for the initial site visit and quote in the Brisbane inner-north service area.

Do you cover Paddington and the rest of Brisbane?

Yes. The base is Paddington and most jobs sit inside the Brisbane inner-north and inner-east — Bardon, Red Hill, Toowong, Bulimba, Hawthorne, New Farm, Kangaroo Point, Ascot. For larger renovations or full-home bathroom tiling work, we'll travel further across Brisbane and out to Samford and the western suburbs. The first call is the easiest way to find out — if it's a fit, we book the site visit.

How long will the job take?

It depends on the scope. A standard bathroom is typically four to six working days from waterproofing to grout. A full-home floor-tiling job runs a week to two weeks. A pool interior or stone façade can sit anywhere between one and three weeks. The schedule is set in writing before the first day on site, including which days are wet trades and when the area is fully usable again.

Are you licensed and insured?

Yes. The business carries the public liability and workers' compensation insurance required for residential and commercial tiling in Queensland, and the work is completed to the AS 3740 standard for waterproofing of domestic wet areas. Certificates of currency for both can be sent through with the quote — most clients don't ask, builders and project managers always do.

Do you handle the waterproofing or is that a separate trade?

Waterproofing is part of every wet-area job we run, applied to the AS 3740 standard. Two-coat liquid membrane, bond breaker at every internal corner, full coverage of the shower hob and up into the niche, with the membrane brought back over the floor waste. Tile is laid directly on top so the membrane is never disturbed by another trade after the fact. If the job is being inspected by a building certifier, we provide the documentation.

What's your warranty on the work?

All workmanship is warranted in writing — the warranty is included on the final invoice and covers the tiling, the grout, and the waterproofing for the period set out at the time of quote. Tile and stone manufacturer warranties pass through to you separately. If something goes wrong inside the warranty period that's down to the install, we come back and fix it. No paperwork dance.

Can you supply the tiles or do I have to source them?

Either way works. Most clients have already chosen the tile by the time we quote — you've been to a showroom, you know the colour and the format. We'll calculate the quantity (including the cut allowance) and you order through the supplier in your account. If you'd rather we coordinate the supply, we can — happy to recommend Brisbane suppliers for porcelain, stone, mosaic, and pool tiles. Either way the install price is the same.

What do I need to do before you start?

Make sure the tile is on site (or the supplier delivery is booked for day-one), confirm any other trades that need to come in afterward (plumbers for fixtures, electricians for under-tile heating, glaziers for shower screens), and clear the area to bare substrate if it's a renovation. We can handle demo as part of the quote if that's easier. Outside of that, just keep pets and kids out of the wet area until the grout has cured.
