About B Safe Driving Lessons
Which suburbs do you cover?
We teach across Brisbane's Northside and North West, including Brendale, Chermside, Everton Park, Ferny Hills, Lutwyche, Moreton Bay, Newstead and North Lakes. We come to you, with pick-up and drop-off at home included. If you live nearby and aren't sure whether we cover your street, get in touch — we'll let you know and, where we can, we'll do our best to fit you in.
What are your hours?
We run lessons Monday to Friday from 7am to 6pm and Saturdays from 7am to 4pm, and we're closed on Sundays. Early-morning and after-school slots are popular and book out quickly, so it's worth getting in touch ahead of time to secure a regular time that works around school, work or other commitments. Call or text and we'll find a slot that suits your week.
Do you offer automatic and manual lessons?
Yes — we have both automatic and manual instructors available. Automatic lessons are a popular, lower-stress way to get started and get licensed, while manual lessons give you a full open licence and the freedom to drive any car. If you're unsure which path is right for you, just ask when you book and we'll talk through your goals and the kind of car you'll mostly be driving.
How do I book a lesson?
The quickest way is to call or text 0432 765 300. You can also send an enquiry through our contact form and we'll get back to you to confirm a time. Let us know whether you want automatic or manual, your suburb and roughly where you're at with your driving, and we'll recommend the right lesson or package and lock in a time that fits your schedule.
How does pricing work?
You can book a single one-hour lesson or save by buying a package — like our Beginners Program, 7-pack or 12-pack — with the per-lesson cost working out lower the more you book. Every package includes pick-up and drop-off at home. Prices shown are for automatic lessons; manual is also available. For current package pricing or to find the best-value option for you, see our packages page or give us a call.
Do you pick up from home?
Yes. Pick-up and drop-off at home is included with our lessons and packages, so you don't need to arrange transport to a meeting point. Just give us your address when you book and your instructor will come to you. If you'd rather be collected from school or work, let us know and we'll do our best to make it work around your day.
Can professional lessons count towards my logbook hours?
In Queensland, time spent learning with a qualified professional driving instructor can be recorded in your learner logbook at a higher rate than the actual time, up to a set limit — a great way to make your supervised hours go further. We'll explain how to record your lessons correctly so you get the full benefit. Ask us about it when you book and we'll walk you through how it applies to you.
Is B Safe good for nervous or first-time drivers?
Definitely. A calm, patient, encouraging approach is exactly what B Safe is known for, and it's why parents trust us with nervous learners. We start somewhere quiet, keep the pressure low and build your confidence step by step, moving at a pace that suits you. Whether it's your very first time behind the wheel or you've had a scare and lost confidence, we'll help you feel safe and in control.
Driving lessons
Learning to drive
Do you offer both automatic and manual driving lessons?
Yes. We have both automatic and manual instructors available across Brisbane's Northside, so you can learn in whichever suits you best. Many learners start in an automatic to build road confidence, while others go straight to manual for a full open licence. If you're not sure which is right for you, just ask when you book and we'll talk it through based on your goals and the car you'll mostly be driving.
How long is each driving lesson?
Lessons run for 1 hour as standard, with 1.5 and 2-hour durations also available. Longer lessons can be a great way to cover more ground in one sitting, especially when you're getting test-ready or travelling to a quieter practice area. We'll recommend a duration based on your stage and how you're progressing, and you can mix and match across your lessons as you go.
I've never driven before — can I start with B Safe?
Absolutely. Complete beginners are very welcome, and our Beginners Program is designed exactly for first-timers. Your instructor stays calm and patient, starting somewhere quiet so you can get comfortable with the basics before building up to busier roads. We move at a pace that suits you, so there's no pressure — just steady, confidence-building progress from your very first lesson behind the wheel.
Do you pick up and drop off?
Yes. Pick-up and drop-off at home is included with our lessons and packages, so you don't have to arrange travel to and from a meeting point. Let us know your address when you book and your instructor will come to you. If you'd prefer to be collected from school, work or another spot on the Northside, just mention it and we'll do our best to accommodate.
How many lessons will I need?
It depends on your experience, how often you practise between lessons and your confidence level — everyone is different. Some learners need only a few lessons to polish up before a test, while others build from scratch over a series of lessons. We'll give you honest feedback after each session so you always know where you're at and what to work on, and we'll help you choose a package that fits your goals.
Can lessons count towards my logbook hours?
Queensland's learner logbook system rewards professional lessons. Under the state's structured-lesson arrangement, time with a qualified professional driving instructor can be recorded in your logbook at a higher rate than the actual time spent, up to a set limit. It's a smart way to make your supervised hours go further. Ask us how it works when you book and we'll explain how to record your lessons correctly.
Which areas do you teach in?
We teach across Brisbane's Northside and the North West, including Brendale, Chermside, Everton Park, Ferny Hills, Lutwyche, Moreton Bay, Newstead and North Lakes. We know these streets well — from quiet roads that are perfect for early lessons to the main roads and roundabouts you'll need to handle on test day. If you're nearby and not sure if we cover your suburb, get in touch and ask.
How do I book a lesson?
The easiest way is to call or text 0432 765 300, or send an enquiry through our contact form and we'll get back to you to lock in a time. Let us know whether you want automatic or manual, your suburb, and roughly where you're at with your driving. We'll suggest the right lesson or package and find a time that works around your schedule.
Test day
The driving test
Can I use your car for my driving test?
Yes — that's exactly what our Test Day Package is for. You'll sit your practical test in a car you already know, with familiar controls, mirrors and bite point, which takes a lot of the stress out of test day. The car is well-maintained and test-ready, so you can walk in focused on your driving rather than adjusting to an unfamiliar vehicle at the worst possible moment.
What's included in the Test Day Package?
The Test Day Package includes a pre-test driving lesson to warm up and settle the nerves, plus use of our car for your practical test, with pick-up and drop-off at home. The warm-up lesson lets you run through the manoeuvres and get comfortable behind the wheel right before you're assessed, so you head into the test loose, confident and ready to drive your best.
Do I need to have lessons with B Safe first?
The Test Day Package is available to people who have completed a Learn to Drive Program with B Safe. That's because we want to be confident you're genuinely test-ready before you sit your assessment in our car — it's better for your result and your confidence. If you haven't trained with us yet, get in touch and we'll map out a plan to get you prepared and book your test day.
How does the pre-test lesson work?
Before your test, your instructor collects you and runs a focused warm-up lesson near the testing centre. You'll rehearse the manoeuvres you're most likely to be asked, settle into the car and shake off any nerves. Think of it as your final tune-up — a chance to get your head in the game and your hands used to the controls so the test itself feels like just another drive.
Where are the driving tests held?
Practical driving tests on Brisbane's Northside are held at Queensland Transport and Main Roads customer service centres in the region. We know the local test routes and the kinds of roads, intersections and manoeuvres assessors favour, so your lessons prepare you for what you'll actually face on the day. We'll make sure you're comfortable with the area around your testing centre before you go in.
What if I'm nervous on test day?
Nerves are completely normal — almost everyone feels them. Our whole approach is calm and patient, and the pre-test warm-up lesson is designed to bring your nerves down before you're assessed. Driving a car you already know, with someone who's helped you prepare, makes a real difference. We'll remind you of what you've practised and send you in focused on driving safely rather than on the pressure of the test.
Do you offer pick-up on test day?
Yes. Pick-up and drop-off at home is included, so on test day you can focus entirely on your driving instead of worrying about getting to and from the testing centre. Your instructor handles the logistics and gets you there in good time, relaxed and ready. Once it's done, we'll get you home — hopefully with a fresh licence to celebrate.
