Frequently Asked Questions

Everything Brisbane customers ask about our garden and lawn services — pricing, scheduling, service areas and more.

Lawn Maintenance

Do you mow lawns in my part of Brisbane?
We look after lawns right across Brisbane's Northside and the wider Greater Brisbane area, including Stafford and the surrounding suburbs. If you're nearby, there's a good chance we already service your street. The easiest way to be sure is to send through your address when you request a free estimate, and we'll confirm straight away whether your property falls within our regular run and when we could fit you in.
How often should my lawn be mowed?
It depends on your grass type, the season and how you like your lawn to look. Through the warmer, wetter Brisbane months most lawns benefit from a mow every one to two weeks, while growth slows over winter and a monthly visit is often enough. We're happy to set you up on a weekly, fortnightly, monthly or one-off basis, and we'll give you an honest recommendation for your particular lawn when we provide your estimate.
What's included in a regular lawn maintenance visit?
Each lawn maintenance visit includes edge trimming, grass mowing, and blowing down paths and driveways so everything is left neat and tidy. Our aim is a clean, professional finish every time, not just a quick cut. If you'd like extras such as fertilising, weed spraying or top dressing handled as well, just let us know and we can build those into a more comprehensive lawn care plan for you.
Do you offer more than just mowing?
Yes. For clients who want their lawn looking its best all year round, we offer a premium lawn care service that goes well beyond mowing. This covers top dressing and fertilising, weed spraying, aeration, and pest, grub and disease control. We regularly assess every aspect of your lawn's health and tend to it before small issues become big ones, so you can simply relax and enjoy a healthy, even lawn.
How do you work out the price for lawn maintenance?
Every lawn is different, so we always start with a free estimate rather than a one-size-fits-all rate. We take into account the size of your lawn, how often you'd like it maintained, access, and its current condition. Once we've had a look we'll give you a clear, upfront price with no surprises. There's no obligation to proceed, and you're welcome to ask any questions before you decide.
Can you maintain commercial lawns and grounds?
We do. Adam Fox Gardening looks after both residential and commercial clients, so whether it's a family backyard or the grounds of a business or rental property, we can help. Our team has the equipment and experience to keep larger or higher-traffic lawns looking sharp on a schedule that suits the site. Get in touch with the details of your property and we'll put together an estimate for ongoing maintenance.
Do I need to be home when you mow?
Not at all. Once we've done the first visit and know your property, most of our regular lawn clients are happy for us to come and go while they're at work or out for the day. As long as we have safe access to the lawn areas, we'll take care of everything and leave the place tidy. If you ever need to flag something specific, a quick message or call beforehand is all it takes.

Garden Maintenance

What does a regular garden maintenance service involve?
Our garden maintenance service is about keeping your whole garden healthy, tidy and thriving. Depending on your garden, a visit can include planting and transplanting, pruning, hedging, mulching, fertilising, soil conditioning, weed and pest control, and green waste removal. We tailor each visit to what your garden actually needs at that time of year, and we take pride in attention to detail on every job, big or small.
Do you cover my suburb for garden maintenance?
We service gardens throughout Brisbane's Northside and across Greater Brisbane, including Stafford and nearby suburbs. As a local family business we know the area and the conditions our gardens deal with. If you let us know your address when you ask for a free estimate, we'll quickly confirm whether you're within our service area and how soon we could schedule your first visit.
Can you help with a one-off garden tidy-up rather than a regular service?
Absolutely. Whether you'd like ongoing garden maintenance or just a one-off project to bring things back under control, our team is here to help. A one-off tidy-up is a great way to reset an overgrown or neglected garden, and from there you can decide whether you'd like us back on a regular basis. Either way, we guarantee the work will be completed to a high-end finish.
Do you take away the green waste and clippings?
Yes. Green waste removal is part of our garden maintenance service, so once we've finished pruning, hedging, weeding and clearing, we tidy everything up and remove the waste. You're left with a clean, presentable garden rather than piles of clippings to deal with yourself. If you'd prefer to keep some material for your own compost or mulch, just let us know and we'll set it aside.
How is a well-maintained garden worth it?
A healthy, thriving garden does more than look good. It gives you a beautiful space to enjoy with family and friends, and it genuinely lifts the street appeal and value of your property. Regular maintenance also catches problems early, so plants stay healthy and jobs stay small. We take care of the ongoing work so your garden keeps rewarding you without becoming a weekend chore.
How often should my garden be maintained?
It depends on the size and style of your garden and how much planting you have. Many clients find a fortnightly or monthly visit keeps everything in good shape, while established or low-maintenance gardens may need less frequent attention. When we provide your free estimate we'll recommend a schedule that suits your garden and budget, and you can adjust the frequency with us at any time.
Do you handle pruning and hedging as well as general upkeep?
Yes, pruning and hedging are a core part of what we do. Well-timed pruning keeps plants healthy and shapely, and crisp, regularly trimmed hedges make a real difference to how a garden reads. Our team knows how and when to prune different plants so they thrive rather than just get cut back. It can be included in your regular maintenance visits or booked as a standalone job.

Soft Landscaping & Garden Make-Overs

What does a garden makeover with Adam Fox Gardening involve?
A garden makeover can be as small or as ambitious as you like. That might mean a general garden clean-up, fresh turf and updated garden beds, or a larger full-scale transformation of your outdoor space. We plan the work using the skills of a qualified horticulturist alongside experienced landscape gardeners, so the recommendations are considered and harmonious, and the finished result is something you'll genuinely enjoy living with.
Can you makeover a small courtyard, or only large gardens?
Both. We work on smaller-scale improvements just as happily as full-scale makeovers, and we deliver a quality finish on every job, large or small. A compact courtyard or front garden can be completely transformed with the right plant selection, beds and finishing touches. Tell us what you have in mind and what's frustrating you about the space now, and we'll suggest a practical plan to suit it.
Do you design the garden as well as build it?
Yes. Because the work is led by a qualified horticulturist, we can plan the layout, plant selection and pairing of garden and landscape elements, then carry out the makeover with our landscape gardening team. Handling both the planning and the hands-on work means the design is realistic to build, suited to your conditions, and delivered to a consistent high standard from concept through to clean-up.
How does the garden makeover process work?
It starts with a conversation about how you'd like to use and enjoy your outdoor space, followed by an on-site look so we understand the conditions we're working with. From there we put together a plan and a clear estimate. Once you're happy, our team carries out the work, keeps the site tidy as we go, and finishes with a quality result. We're glad to answer questions at every stage.
Will you install turf and update garden beds as part of a makeover?
Yes. Turf installation and garden bed updates are common parts of our makeover work, whether that's refreshing tired beds, redefining the layout, or laying healthy new lawn. Because we also offer dedicated turf and garden maintenance services, everything can be coordinated together and then kept looking its best afterwards. We'll recommend what will give you the biggest improvement for your space and budget.
How do you price a garden makeover?
Makeovers vary enormously depending on the size of the space and the scope of the work, so we always provide a free estimate after discussing your ideas and assessing the site. We'll talk through options so you can see where your budget makes the most difference, and give you a clear written estimate. There's no obligation, and you're welcome to stage the work over time if that suits you better.

Irrigation Planning & Installation

Why should I consider installing an irrigation system?
Appropriate, consistent watering is essential to keep gardens and lawns green and lush all year round, and that's exactly where a well-planned irrigation system works wonders. A fully automated, self-timing system takes the stress out of watering, delivering the right amount of water to the right areas without you having to think about it. It's especially valuable through Brisbane's hot, dry stretches when consistent watering makes all the difference.
What types of irrigation do you install?
We design and install systems to suit every garden and lawn. Depending on your space that might be micro-irrigation such as drip systems, surface or sprinkler irrigation, or a combination of methods. After assessing your property we'll recommend the best option for your plants, lawn areas and water use. Systems can also include rain and moisture sensors to eliminate guesswork and avoid watering when nature has already done the job.
Do you service Brisbane Northside and surrounding suburbs for irrigation?
Yes. We design, install and maintain irrigation systems for clients across Brisbane's Northside and Greater Brisbane, including Stafford and nearby suburbs. Send through your address when you request a free estimate and we'll confirm we cover your area, then arrange a time to assess your garden and talk through the options that would suit it best.
Can you repair or adjust an existing irrigation system?
We can. Our skilled team is able to undertake repairs and adjustments to keep an existing system running smoothly, whether that's fixing leaks, replacing damaged components, or fine-tuning coverage and timing. A system that's properly maintained performs efficiently and keeps gardens and lawns looking lush, so if yours isn't working as it should, get in touch and we'll take a look.
How do automated and sensor-based systems help?
Fully automated, self-timing systems water your garden on a schedule so your outdoor spaces always get what they need, even when you're away. Adding rain and moisture sensors takes it a step further by helping the system skip watering when the soil is already moist or rain is about. The result is healthier plants, less wasted water, and far less day-to-day effort for you.
How do you decide what irrigation my garden needs?
We start by assessing your space, looking at your lawn and garden areas, plant types, sun and shade, slope and access. From that assessment we determine the best option available for your property and provide a free estimate. A well-designed, professionally installed and regularly maintained system performs efficiently for years, so it's worth getting the design right from the start.

Natural & Synthetic Turf

What's included in your turf service?
We provide a complete turf service from start to finish. That covers site assessment to discuss your requirements and choose the right turf, site preparation to create a healthy and even soil base, and supply and installation by our expert team. We finish with advice on aftercare, and can take care of the ongoing maintenance for you too, so your new lawn establishes well and stays looking its best.
Should I choose natural or synthetic turf?
A healthy, lush natural lawn brings real benefits, both for the look of your home and for the calm a green space provides. For most gardens, natural turf is a wonderful choice. Synthetic turf is worth considering when natural turf simply isn't the right fit, such as areas of very high foot traffic, extreme shade, or for clients who want a very low maintenance option. We'll help you weigh up what suits your site.
Do you cover my suburb for turf installation?
We supply and install turf across Brisbane's Northside and Greater Brisbane, including Stafford and the surrounding suburbs. When you request your free estimate, include your address and we'll confirm you're within our service area, then arrange a site assessment so we can recommend the most suitable turf and give you an accurate price for the work.
How do you make sure new turf takes successfully?
Good preparation is the key. We assess the site, then prepare an even, healthy soil base so your new turf can establish properly. After installation we advise on the immediate aftercare your lawn needs, particularly watering, and we can carry out that aftercare for you if you'd prefer. Looking after turf well in its first few weeks makes a big difference to how strong and even the lawn becomes.
Can you maintain my lawn after the turf is installed?
Yes. As well as the immediate aftercare, our team can provide ongoing long-term maintenance to keep your new lawn healthy and looking its best. Because we also offer regular lawn maintenance and premium lawn care, it's easy to keep everything with one trusted local team. We'll happily set you up on a schedule that suits your lawn once it has established.
How is turf pricing worked out?
Turf pricing depends on the area to be covered, the type of turf you choose, site access, and how much preparation the ground needs. Rather than guess, we provide a free estimate after assessing your site so the price reflects your actual job. We'll explain the options clearly so you can make a confident choice, with no pressure and no obligation to proceed.

Horticultural Consultation

What is a horticultural consultation?
A horticultural consultation is a tailored, by-the-hour advice service for clients who want expert guidance on their garden. As a certified horticulturist, Adam can advise on appropriate plant selection, positioning, and the pairing of garden and landscape elements, as well as turf selection and suitable materials for a particular setting. It's a practical way to make considered, appropriate choices before you spend money on plants or works.
Who is a consultation most useful for?
It suits anyone making decisions about their garden, whether you're planning new planting, reworking a tired space, or simply unsure what will thrive where. It's also ideal for established gardens that need to be brought back to their prime. We provide an on-site assessment to identify current issues and make informed recommendations to address them, so you can move forward with confidence.
How does the consultation work?
We come to your property, look at your garden in its real conditions, and discuss what you'd like to achieve. From there Adam shares clear, practical recommendations suited to your individual circumstances, covering plant choices, positioning, turf and materials, and ongoing care. Because the service is offered by the hour, you can keep it focused on the questions and areas that matter most to you.
Do you cover Brisbane Northside for consultations?
Yes. We offer on-site horticultural consultations across Brisbane's Northside and Greater Brisbane, including Stafford and nearby suburbs. Get in touch with your address when you request an estimate and we'll confirm we cover your area, then arrange a suitable time to visit and assess your garden.
Can you advise on ongoing maintenance, not just planting?
Definitely. Healthy, thriving gardens and lawns need regular tending, so as part of a consultation we can advise on ongoing maintenance needs and help you plan the scheduling of maintenance tasks through the year. If you'd like, that advice can flow naturally into one of our regular maintenance services, or simply give you a clear plan to follow yourself.
Will a consultation help fix an underperforming garden?
Often, yes. For established gardens that aren't looking their best, an on-site assessment lets us identify the current issues you may be having, whether that's plant health, positioning, soil or watering, and make informed recommendations to address them. It's a cost-effective first step before larger works, because it makes sure any money you spend afterwards is well directed.
