Frequently asked questions

Everything you might want to know before booking — pricing, scheduling, service areas and how each service works.

General
Do you service my suburb?+
AB Yard Maintenance is based in Coorparoo and regularly services Coorparoo, Norman Park and Camp Hill, plus the surrounding Greater Brisbane area. If you're nearby and not certain whether you're in range, get in touch with your address and we'll let you know straight away.
What days and hours do you operate?+
We operate Monday, Wednesday and Friday. Running a set schedule means our regular clients are serviced on a predictable rhythm and always know roughly when to expect us. To enquire or arrange a quote, contact us any time through the website and we'll get back to you.
How do I get a quote?+
The easiest way is to send an enquiry through the contact form or give us a call on 0409 600 690. Tell us your suburb and what you need — mowing, hedge trimming, a clean-up or detailing — and we'll arrange a free, no-obligation quote. Quotes are based on your specific yard, not a flat rate.
How does your pricing work?+
We quote each job on the actual work involved — the size of the lawn, the number and height of hedges, how overgrown a yard is, and how often you'd like a regular service. We don't publish fixed prices because every yard is different, but quotes are always free and the price stays consistent once a regular service is set.
What services do you offer?+
We offer Precision Mowing, Hedge Sculpting, Full Clean-Ups, and Edging & Detailing for residential properties. Many clients combine them into a single regular maintenance visit so the whole yard — lawn, hedges, edges and tidy-up — is kept to a consistent standard.
Do I need to be home when you visit?+
No. Most regular clients aren't home during the visit. As long as we can access the areas being serviced, we'll complete the work and leave the yard tidy. If anything needs discussing, we'll follow up with you afterwards.
Can you take on regular ongoing maintenance?+
Yes — ongoing maintenance is the core of what we do. Once your yard is at a good standard we'll set a regular Monday, Wednesday or Friday visit so the lawn, hedges and edges stay consistently sharp. You can adjust the frequency between seasons as your yard's needs change.
Are you a new business?+
AB Yard Maintenance is a newer local business, and our clients have been generous in supporting it — something a few have mentioned in their Google reviews. What we bring is a genuine focus on doing each yard properly: reliable scheduling, careful work, and a finish we're happy to put our name to.
Precision Mowing
Do you cover Coorparoo for lawn mowing?+
Yes. Coorparoo is our home base — AB Yard Maintenance is run from Coorparoo and it's one of the suburbs we service most regularly, along with Norman Park and Camp Hill. We also take on mowing across the surrounding Greater Brisbane area. If you're nearby and not sure whether you're in range, get in touch with your address and we'll let you know.
How does pricing work for regular mowing?+
Mowing is quoted based on the size of your lawn, how often you'd like it cut, and how much edging and detailing is involved. Rather than a flat rate, we look at your specific yard so the price reflects the actual work. Quotes are free and there's no obligation — once you've had one, the price stays consistent for that ongoing service.
How often should I have my lawn mowed?+
It depends on the season and your grass type. Through the warmer growing months many lawns benefit from a weekly cut, while a fortnightly cut is often enough in cooler months. We run a regular Monday, Wednesday and Friday schedule and will recommend a frequency that keeps your lawn looking sharp without over-servicing it.
Do you collect the grass clippings?+
Yes — clippings can be collected and taken away, or mulched back into the lawn if you'd prefer. Mulching returns nutrients to the soil, while collection leaves the cleanest finish. Just let us know your preference and we'll mow accordingly each visit.
Do I need to be home when you mow?+
No. Most of our regular mowing clients aren't home during the visit. As long as we have access to the lawn areas, we'll complete the mow, edge and tidy up, and leave the yard ready to enjoy. If anything needs discussing we'll follow up afterwards.
What days do you mow?+
We operate Monday, Wednesday and Friday. Running a set schedule means your lawn is cut on a predictable rhythm and you always know roughly when to expect us. When you book a regular service we'll lock in a day that works for your yard.
Can you mow before a property inspection or open home?+
Absolutely. A sharp, freshly striped lawn makes a strong first impression, and we're happy to schedule a mow ahead of an inspection or open home. If the yard needs more than a standard cut, a Full Clean-Up beforehand will bring it back to a great baseline.
Hedge Sculpting
Do you trim hedges in Norman Park and Camp Hill?+
Yes. Hedge Sculpting is available across Coorparoo, Norman Park, Camp Hill and the surrounding Greater Brisbane area. If you're close by and unsure whether we reach your street, send through your address when you enquire and we'll confirm.
How is hedge trimming priced?+
Hedge work is quoted on the number, size and height of the hedges, and how much shaping they need. A long-neglected hedge takes more work than one on a regular trim cycle, so we look at the job before quoting. Quotes are free, and once a hedge is on a regular schedule the upkeep is quicker and more predictable.
Can you trim tall hedges or hedges near a pool?+
Yes. We regularly handle tall screening hedges and hedges in tricky positions, including alongside pools and fences. We work carefully in those spots and check the shape with you as we go, so you're happy with the result before we finish.
How often should hedges be trimmed?+
Most hedges benefit from trimming two to four times a year, depending on the species and how sharp you like them kept. Fast-growing hedges may need more frequent attention. We can recommend a cycle for your specific hedges and fold it into a regular maintenance schedule.
Do you clean up the hedge trimmings?+
Yes. All trimmings are cleared away and the area is swept down before we leave, so you're not left with a mess to deal with. Tidying up is part of every hedge job, not an extra.
Will you shape the hedge the way I want it?+
Yes — we trim to the shape and lines you're after, whether that's a square formal face, a level top, or a softer rounded form. If you have a particular look in mind, tell us when you book and we'll check in during the work to make sure it's coming together the way you want.
Full Clean-Ups
What does a Full Clean-Up include?+
A Full Clean-Up clears an overgrown or messy yard and resets it to a clean, maintainable state. That covers cutting back overgrown lawn, removing leaf litter, clippings and garden debris, weeding through beds and paving, tidying hedges and shrubs, and clearing down paths. The goal is a yard that's ready for ongoing maintenance.
How much does a yard clean-up cost?+
Clean-Ups are quoted on the size of the yard and how much work it needs — a lightly overgrown lawn is very different from a yard that's been left for months. We'll look at the space and give you a free, no-obligation quote before any work starts, so there are no surprises.
Do you cover Coorparoo and the surrounding suburbs for clean-ups?+
Yes. Full Clean-Ups are available across Coorparoo, Norman Park, Camp Hill and the wider Greater Brisbane area. Let us know your address when you enquire and we'll confirm we can reach you.
Can you do a clean-up before I sell or rent my property?+
Yes — pre-sale and pre-inspection clean-ups are a common request. A tidy, well-presented yard helps a property show at its best for inspections, open homes and rental handovers. We can also keep it maintained right through the campaign.
Do you take the green waste away?+
Yes. Removing the cleared debris is part of the Full Clean-Up — leaf litter, clippings and garden waste are taken away so the yard is left genuinely clean rather than just cut back. If a job involves an unusually large volume, we'll talk that through with you first.
What happens after the clean-up is done?+
Once your yard is back to a clean baseline, it's far easier to keep it that way. Most clients move onto a regular mowing and trimming schedule after a Full Clean-Up, which keeps the space looking sharp and avoids it getting overgrown again.
Edging & Detailing
What is edging and detailing?+
Edging is cutting a crisp, defined border where the lawn meets paths, driveways and garden beds. Detailing covers the finishing touches around it — trimming near fixtures and posts, clearing grass off pavers, and tidying spots a mower can't reach. Together they give the whole yard a precise, intentional finish.
Is edging included when you mow my lawn?+
Edges along paths, fences and beds are part of our regular mowing service. More involved detailing — for example clearing grass from large paved areas or working around lots of fixtures — can be added on. We'll talk through what your yard needs when we quote.
How is edging and detailing priced?+
It's quoted based on how much edge length and detail work your property has. A yard with long driveways, multiple garden beds and paved areas takes more time than a simple block. Quotes are free, and detailing added to a regular mow is generally quick and cost-effective.
Do you service Coorparoo, Norman Park and Camp Hill?+
Yes. Edging & Detailing is available across Coorparoo, Norman Park, Camp Hill and the surrounding Greater Brisbane area. Send through your address when you get in touch and we'll confirm we cover your street.
How often should edges be re-cut?+
Edges tend to soften as the lawn grows back over them. On a regular mowing schedule we keep them defined each visit, so they never get a chance to disappear. On a yard that hasn't been edged in a while, the first cut re-establishes the line and regular visits hold it.
Can detailing make an older yard look sharper?+
Often, yes. Crisp edges and clean detail work make a noticeable difference even on an established yard — defined lines where grass meets paving instantly read as cared for. Paired with a regular mow, detailing is the step that lifts a yard from tidy to genuinely sharp.
