Hiring a truck is complicated. We make it easy.

Can I rent a truck on a car licence?

Yes. You can hire an Easy truck on a Green P or Open class C car driver licence from any Australian state or territory. No truck-specific licence is needed.

What type of fuel do the trucks take?

All our hire trucks take diesel fuel only. Every hire is full-out, full-back — if the truck is returned not full, we charge $5.50 per litre to cover refuelling.

Do I have to pay a bond?

Yes, every hire requires a bond of $500. We do this by a credit card authorisation — a 'pending' hold only. The money never leaves your account unless we claim on it.

Are the trucks automatic transmission?

Yes. Every truck in our fleet is automatic transmission only. No clutch, no manual.

Can I drive the truck anywhere I please?

You're free to drive the truck within our designated area on sealed roads only. To get the best rate, if you plan to drive further than 200km one way, let us know and we'll quote you a trip rate. This applies to interstate trips from Cairns to Adelaide and out west, on sealed roads.

How can I pay to rent the truck?

We accept Visa and Mastercard credit cards, American Express and Diners Card. There's a surcharge of 1.29% for Visa/Mastercard and 1.8% for Amex/Diners. Sorry, we cannot accept cash.

What are the excess kilometre charges?

Every hire comes with 150km included per day. For every kilometre over 150 we charge 38c per kilometre. You can also purchase blocks of 100km in advance at a discounted rate — useful if you know you're travelling long distances.

What happens if I return the truck late?

We give you a 1-hour grace because we know life happens. After 1 hour past due, we charge $22 per hour up to a full day’s hire. If you think you'll be late, let us know at the time of hire or as soon as you can.

Can I rent the truck one way?

Yes, but with limitations — we don't allow one-way to all locations. Call us on 1300 327 901 between 7am and 3pm Monday to Friday and we'll work out the right pickup and drop-off branches for your trip.

Do all the trucks come with a tailgate lifter?

Yes. Every truck has a 750kg-capacity electric tailgate. The Easy staff will show you how to operate the lifter on the day of hire.

Can I cancel my booking, and is there a fee?

Yes you can cancel. More than 7 days before pickup — no fee. Within 7 days — one day's hire. Within 48 hours, no-show, or failure to pick up — we charge the full rental for the period (we’re out of pocket so cannot refund unless we re-hire the truck for an equivalent rate).

Can I extend my rental after I've taken the truck?

In most cases yes. Just call the branch on 1300 327 901 to update your booking. If you extend over a period where the rates change, we'll tell you and give you the option to accept the new charges or return the truck.

Can I smoke in the truck cabin?

No. The cabin must remain a smoke-free environment at all times. Cleaning cigarette ash, stains and burn marks is expensive — cleaning fees start at $300 depending on the work needed. Please don’t do it.

What other fees should I be aware of?

We send the trucks out clean and well-presented and we'd like them back that way. Excessive cleaning fees apply for excessive sand, dirt, food, stains, smells, mud under guards, or excessive bugs/dirt on exterior — charged at $45 per hour plus materials. What happens if the truck breaks down?

Our brand-new fleet means breakdowns are rare. In the event a truck does break down during your hire, we provide complimentary 24-hour roadside assistance to get you back on your way.

Can I take a truck onto a barge or ferry?

No. Our trucks are not allowed on marine vessels (barges, car ferries). If your route requires water transport, please call us before booking and we'll suggest alternatives.

How does remote pickup at a storage facility work?

Call us when you arrive. We'll confirm your identity, then give you the gate code. The truck is unlocked remotely — you'll hear a click. Keys are inside the truck. We walk through any details by phone, and you're on your way. Returning is the same process in reverse: park, take 7 photos using the link we send by SMS, put the keys back above the sun visor, lock up.
